McLaren apologise over spy saga.

Sort Comments:

McLaren apologises over spy saga.

In a letter to the sport's governing body, McLaren has admitted that more Ferrari information had infiltrated the team than had at first been realised or revealed.

Perhaps now Mosley will apologise for being a total waste of space and promise to stop his personal vendetta against McLaren and Ron Dennis. On the other hand, that presupposes that Mosley has a sense of honour and fair play, something he's conspicuously failed to show so far.

Really intersting that the truth has now come out after all the debate of recent weeks. You have to feel sorry for McLaren even if they did bring this all on themselves but the people who have been abusing the FIA and Max Mosley ever since this story started should now offer apologies as generous as those of McLaren.

This has gone on far enough, how much more of this information is going to come out?
At this rate McLaren will not be appearing on the F1 2008 starting grid, either that or well start with a massive negative points.
I can't believe it. What a bunch of lying *****bags. I bet Bruce McLaren is turning in his grave.
RD has to go.

This is called swallowing your pride and getting on the FIA's good side in order to not jeopardize the 08 effort.

The Technical Report detailing the FIA investigation is on the web - it's devastating.

When the proud McLaren bends over to take a beating, they're guilty as hell and hoping to prevent total exclusion of the '08 and '09 seasons.

Bye bye Ron... You gave mismanagement a whole new meaning!

This letter was dated before the last WMSC meeting.

Perhaps it was released into general view to show bad light on MM for continuing the "vendetta".

Perhaps it was released to let everybody know the particular technical points, then everyone will try them, or they will be banned.
Will Ferrari ever prosecute Stepney, assuming that breaking into his home is an illegal way of gaining evidence in Italy? Therefore making that evidence inadmissable. How long does it take to test white powder? Why didn't Charlie W investigate the flexing floor when he was advised of it? Surely waiting until it has been used is a dereliction of duty? Why won't the FIA release the emails from that time?

This is truly heart breaking, but shows just what the public does not know, they Mclaren should be ashamed of themselves for using certain persons as scapegoats..I would like to see the apology accepted and Mclaren on the grid for 2008 but this shows it has been a big cover up if thats the right phrase, but personally speaking it looks as though Ron Dennis will fall on this one

Quoting from the FIA website: "In the light of McLaren's public apology and undertakings, the FIA President has asked the members of the World Motor Sport Council for their consent to cancel the hearing scheduled for 14 February 2008 and, in the interests of the sport, to consider this matter closed."

It would appear that this could finally bring this to an end, and hopefully we can have 2008 decided on the track!

Let's face it all teams have information on each other no matter how much or how little
It just comes down to the simple fact that 1 team wants it all it's own way.
And if any body does not want their info to fall into other hands they should have better security.

I'm amazed = I believed all Ron Dennis's assurances and thought that this was just Ferrari making a huge fuss about something that's gone on for years in F1. Not the case, McL have been forced to admit their serious & ongoing guilt, and it would now appear that even after all his repeated denials Ron Dennis was still prepared to lie to FIA and McL's loyal & trusting fans.

I'm now an ex McL fan, sadly as I've supported them for over 20 (yes 20) ye**** I just hope Ron now has the decency to resign.

"Morticiaskeeper" should be aware that it is not Ferrari who will prosecute Nigel but the local Mr Plod(di). Charlie W had no information about the Ferrari floor until McLaren provided it. All the real information about the floor and everything else which Nigel thought might be useful was sent straight to McLaren. Ron's mistake was not shopping Nigel immediately.

Luca

According to Stepney (who has not been proven guilty yet), Peter Wright and Charlie Whiting new about the floor before Melbourne, but didn't do anything about it until after.

With all that's happened today, I think common sense and reality has hit all those involved.

I bet there is twice as much stuff (from all interested parties) that we will never know about.

Things of this nature happen in all racing series. We got here today because of a bitter ex-champion. His involvement in McL and Renault is the common factor. And now that he is going back to his old team, it completes the circle of doom he created. Now he is aware of every car on the grid and has probally kept a few emails for future use. In case things don't go his way this coming year. Good Luck FA. With a team mate like you who needs enemies?

My God, some of you must be intellectually slow! McLaren STOLE the informationa dn this letter even states that McLaren had to get the FIA to uncover the whole truth because they were incapable of doing it themselves.

WHAT VENDETTA ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT??? MCLAREN BROKE THE RULES, THENM LIED ABOUT IT, THEN WEHEN IT WAS REVEALED THEY DIDNT EVEN REALISE HOW WiDESPREAD IT WAS! There is no vendetta, had Mclaren done the right thing and told ferrari or the FIA what stepney was doing, none of this would have happened! They broke the rules so they cant be trusted!

The Mclaren fans don't seem to have much to say today. You should be happy that your boy LH gets to race next year. Now if you could only find him an honorable team to drive for. Maybe with all the money LH has saved by moving to Switzerland he can bring Lotus back.
