Renault's Nelson Piquet Jr has said that he is 'confident' he will be able to reward the faith the Regie has shown in him during 2008, when he will make his debut in the FIA Formula 1 World Championship.
Remember that you are not alowed to pass Alonso unless he is out of the race. He has got number 1 status.

He better not beat Fernando, Remember what happens with teamates that do that.

Who, besides Ron Dennis, would dare to claim giving an equal status to a two time World Champion and an inexperienced (in terms of F1 racing) rookie?
I hope Briatore has a lot more common sense than Dennis. Alonso definitely should be Renault # 1.

I personaly hope he runs fernado ragged!not because i don't like fernado he is a great driver but this is F1! your supposed to go as fast etc as you can thats why we watch, not to watch team mates stand on the brakes saying after you claud!"if" as the season goes on and one has a clear chance of the championship and the other does not by all means help your team mate but all this I have to be number 1 or i'm not playing is laughable,if you think your number one earn it out on the track by doing the one thing that comes first in all motor raceing including bikes "beat your team mate first" then you become number one in the team "simple".

Did Piquest not get the message. Alonso does all the talking for the team. No one is to speak about doing well for the team but him. Another rookie shooting his mouth off, this is going to make FA mad. He might have to back out of this contract as it looks as if his team mate is starting the Hamilton bull**** on him already. Let's hope that Piquet is not faster than FA. Don't want FA to start sending emails to the other teams with what he knows about Renault.

I dont think Renault will even need to worry about giving Nelson orders to let Alonso be the best in the team because I reckon that he just wont be fast enough to match or let alone better Fernando's times.

i am beginning to get annoyed at the abuse fernando is getting. ill be the first to admit he acted like a 1 year old when he uttered a word but once he got over the shock of hamilton actually being fast, he got his head down and eventually finished on equal points to hamilton. nothing like the feat kimi achieved but alonso was in the same car. a mclaren- ferrari. i'm sure he is totally preparing for piquet to be fast. he better, because piquet in my view is slightly better than lewis on merit. and nelson will be even worse than lewis top deal with. hamilton ran to his dad (ron dennis) and that guy whos always with him but piquet wont run to his daddy. if anything, he will emulate him

sokudo FA deserves admiration for his driving skills (even though he got beaten by his rookie team mate) but derision for for his immature attitude. Going back to Renault - but they have to kick out HK cos he might be too good? It's quite pathetic really. As is your comparison of LH to NP - NP is there because of his name, LH got there on talent. NP spent four years in F3 - without his name and dads money he would not have been able to progress. And he spent two years in GP2 without winning the championship. So in what way is he better than LH?

I can't say about NPJr's performance compared with Alonso or any problems like has happenned with Lewis. I only wish him the best as it's hard being son of a champion and i've always like his interviews. Good luck Nelsinho!

Just wait and see. Poor FA. He will not talk but he will deliver. Like his father.

I keep thinking back to 1978, when a good friend of mine, Ronnie Peterson joined Lotus and was forced to play #2 to Mario Andretti. He was under strict orders not to pass Mario. There were many occasions when he got really frustrated having to sit behind him.
Don Woodrow is right... A bigger waste of talent will be Heikki Kovlainen at Mclaren.
Heikki will never be allowed to pass Hamilton. Poor Heikki is too good to be #2!

Yet another comment from Frank S, the head of the Mclaren PR department. Making sure that Mclaren is discussed on every post through the off season.

In time to come, he will be a better driver than Alonso. Renault has chosen wisely!

Once again I have to defend Fernando. How do you know any of this stuff about Fernando other than Ron Dennis or the British claiming he said or did something? Do you actually know that Fernando complained about not having #1 status, did you ever hear him say that? What about Lewis blocking Fernando towards the wall in Indy? Talk about "not allowing someone to pass you!" And what about Fernando's treatment by Ron at McLaren? Ron attempted (and succeeded) in dragging Fernando into Stepney-gate by "hinting" to the press that Fernando tried to blackmail the team into giving him #1 status! Again, where is the proof other than Ron Dennis says so? Giver poor Fernando a break.

Dear Jonov, I also think that FA is a topclass driver and richly deserved both of his Championships, but if not for the fact that FA WAS demanding #1 status and that was the reason he fell out with McLaren, what other reason can there have been for FA spending 2007 with a face like a bulldog licking p iss for a stinging nettle ? I think you're being a bit blinkered there mate

Fast as alonso is i think piquet will just have the edge pure and simpleas long as politics dont factor in to the equation. far too many people here let national pride cloud their opinions.

A lot of people here say that Kovi and Piquet will not be allowed to overtake?? They should do what Hamilton did last year and OUT QUALIFY their team mates, then there wont be any arguements. If Kovi and Piquet are on the front row then there will be no problems

IF....and IF Piquet is destroyed by Alonso - it will prove how good Hamilton is.
I am counting on Alonso to do this, because if not - then either Alonso is simply average in a great car (McLaren 2007), or Hamilton is the next big thing.
Lets see.
