Dennis quit rumours resurface.

Dennis quit rumours resurface.

Under-fire McLaren boss Ron Dennis could be poised to relinquish control of the team he took the forefront of Formula One as early as this week, if speculation in the British press is to be believed.

If I was Dennis I'd go. F1 is in a sorry state as a credible racing series. To much politics having an effect on racing, commercial interest sanitizing the drivers, a complete lack of on track action due to poor car design rules, double standards and Max Mosley

It,s a big shame to not go out on a high like his counterpart Jean Toddt with the title, for he has done for F1 and Mclaren

Yeah, if he stays this season and McL wins the WC, then it would be the perfect time to step down. And that's why I'm pretty sure he won't quit now. Might announce his retirement at the end of this season though. He'll want to be remembered for his success, not for the scandals. Thus this could be his greatest victory ever - although I personally don't think McL will win...

Well, Mosley will have got what he wanted and so will Todt, but those of us who follow the sport avidly will know that Dennis has done brilliant job for F1 - since he took over from Teddy Mayer he's built McLaren into a world leader. His car perparation has been second to none and he gave us Prost, Senna and now Hamilton. We also know that he was subject to one of the most scandalous witch hunts in the history of the 'sport'. Ron, go when wish and remember that you may have had humble beginnings, but neither Todt not Mosley can hold a candle to you.

Great posts guys. I would hate to see him go now with scandal and confusion in the air. To second Richard's post, he brought us some great drivers and to add it lets not forget that we got to see great drivers racing each other in the same machine and in my opinion that is the best thing about McLaren and Ron Dennis. It didn't go well all the time but it was great for the sport and the fans. For all that happened last we got to see a champion and a talented rookie going at it and it got me interested in F1 again and I am die hard WRC. I am sure it brought some others too. Go for as long as you want Ron and let Lewis and Heikki go at it to the very end

The sooner the better!

Once he goes then Mosley will have won the day and his nemesis Dennis will be out of the picture, it's sad but clearly obvious that Max mosley simply wants to destroy and break Ron Dennis which he seems to have done rather successfully.

Personally I can't stand either of them as they're both as repulsive as each other, what ever happened to the FIA's chalenge on Martin Brundle and the Sunday Times, has that now died a death?

It would be a shame that, after all these years and so much success, he retires following a season he will probably be most remembered for, and not for a good reason. I can't imagine why he'd quit now though - why destablisise the team just as the season starts. My betting is this will be a transition year and he'll step down later in the season, or at the end.

I dunno but if Ron Dennis does leave McLaren then I think it has more to do with him spending more time with his family rather than the spy saga itself...

...then again it could have been the spy saga itself that was putting too much of a strain on Ron Dennis and his family.

I blame Ferrari as much as Mosley, they are trying to make us beleive they are whiter than white. They are and always have been the most corrupt team in F1. Mika how can you say Jean Toddt went out on a high we all no he was forced out by the Ferrari bosses. He also left on a low after not winning the championship (they were given it by mosley) Ron has still got to be the best team boss out there as he has brought a team to the top and kept it there with no help from the Fia or special back handers to keep his team in F1.

Sorry Cunny Funt, but much as I hate to admit it (as a McLaren fan), Ferrari would've still won the constructors championship by a single point had McLaren not been stripped of their CC points.

It would definately be a shame if Dennis is forced out as the rumours suggest, he has truly done more for the sport as pretty much anyone in the sport's history.

If my arithmetic is correct and counting all the points garnered by the McLaren and Ferrari drivers in 2007 we get:
FA 109 + LH 109 = 218.
KR 110 + FM 94 + 204
So counting all points McLaren would have won the CC with 14 points.
But of course if we subtract the 15 points penalty for the Hungary race then McL would get 203 and a win for Ferrari with 1 point.

RD can never replace Bernie as F1 Supremo, because Bernie Ecclestone owns Formula One Administration, Formula One Management and the whole Formula One Group of Companies.
He's President and CEO not by election as Max is President of the FIA, but due to complete ownership. He's not worth GBP4.4 billion for nothing.

More rumors and this time from the British press. But I think it would be stupid for Mercedes to get rid of Ron just before the start of the season. It would be a big blow to the morale of the team. Is Mercedes going to make Maclaren into a German team like their archrival BMW?

Pizza man pizza off if you have nothing constructive to say. Yes Reno you are correct Mclaren would have had more points than Ferrari. There was nothing to confirm that they would definitely have had the 15 points taken away at the end of the season.

Ecclestone's comments here, h t t p://www.crash.n e t/motorsport/f1/news/160128-0/rumour_mill_claims_dennis_fired.h t m l pretty much tell you what a piece he is, basically saying that Dennis should get the ultimate shaft regardless of how (and with whom) everything went down. Even if that's true in a "Captain going down with the ship" way, how he presents his thoughts shows you he's just a callous piece, historically bitter that Dennis ever dare wield any power that could challenge the F1 "establishment" (i.e., Ferrari winning everything).

And another thing...Ferrari's manipulation of the rules since the Todt era, putting the kibosh to any significant 'white/grey area' advancement (beautiful creations like McLaren's third brake pedal in '98) while downright flaunting their own flagrant transgressions (illegal wings, brakes, traction control, floors, etc. Do the research), make Ferari one of the ugliest manifestations of sport in recent memory.

People seem to think that Mad Max wanted the head of Dennis...

If it is the case, then i hope he will go away, perhaps Mad Max will feel his dutiy done and resign too

No really, i hope R.Dennis will find a way to go away in glory, not in shame.
