Lewis Hamilton is warming up for the new grand prix season in bullish mood, claiming that he expects Mclaren, despite all its trials and tribulations last year, to be more than a match for nemesis Ferrari.
And yet again some more tough talk from last year's biggest loser.
Can't wait for all this arrogance to blow up in his face once again!

Arrogance? Why? He was answering questions at a major press conference, what exactly would you expect him to have said?

Every day I'm astounded by what I read in these comments.
I can never decided if it's ignorance or stupidity (fanboyism) I suspect the latter...
For a start Hamilton is now the teams No 1 driver, and therefor even though he is only in his second season that makes him the lead driver for press conferences and PR things.
Secondly, last years biggest loser, lets take a look at this logically.
Alan (or anyone) show me one driver who in his DEBUT ROOKIE YEAR (and that's an important factor) took 4 wins, fought for the championship, equaled his double world champion team mate and ended up runner up, a single point behind the world champion. (ill wait while you desperately search google)
I'm not interested in the excuses, he had the best car, was favoured, waaa waaa waaa. Just show me that other driver to have such an impressive debut season. Even more so to do it with all the controversy going on around him.
Hamilton is undeniably fast and he can actually race. Just look at some races from last year year and from his 2006 GP2 season to see that Hamilton can race on track for position. Not all drivers are equal here
It's tiresome and boring to read the constant bull***** and biased comments by a huge majority of the readers here against all drivers and teams (depending who is making the comments) Some people need to seriosuly grow up.
Maybe its jealousy

i cant show you another driver who in his ROOKIE year did all that, but i can quite safely say that no other rookie in the last decade or so has had a top notch mclaren to step in to to be able to do all that

ryan, so LH was lucky or got his timing right. You blaming him for that? FooAtari never mentioned McLaren, could have been any other car. Could even have been Ferrari, but wait, they don't take rookies.

he was lucky to join in a top team like mclaren, if he is that talented shove him in a toro rosso and see how stunning your little wonderboy is then, there are probably 2 or 3 other rookies who could have done exactly what hamilton did last year, given a mclaren

Ryan why are you bothering to be interested in F1 which you presumably know has some excellent, some good and some not so good teams. If you want equality go and watch a form of racing where they all have equal cars like GP2 or F3!!Oh I forgot LH won in those as well!!

because i enjoy f1 maybe? i never said hamilton wasnt talented i said he was lucky to come into F1 in a mclaren, his drive in fuji was impressive i admit and that takes talent to do what he did there, btw he wasnt really against big shot names in gp2 was he? nelson piquet, glock and pantano were the only drivers who stoosd out for me in that year

@FooAtari
Jacques Villeneuve in his debut season took 4 victories and finished runner up in the championship (not by a single point though).

Allan, ????? ever heard of one blowing his own trumpet. I offered LH a choice.
FooAtari, I always taught that Mclaren do not have a No.1 and 2 drivers, but that both drivers are given equal status. Or am I mistaken? If that is so then Heiki is going to have a worst year than Fernando. For your second question: A driver who achieved the same in his rookie year but then went one better because he won the WDC in his second year was Jacques Villeneuve in a Williams-Renault.
Calvin, Lewis is very talented and fast, but yes he was in the right place but not at the right time. He was lucky to be in a McL in his rookie year, but he had FA to contend with and could not really win the WDC.
Ryan, how come it is luck? I thought he had been with the team for 10 years before getting the F1 drive.I presume there must have been some hard work and dedication during that time.I presume Mercedes would have seen that coupled with his success in all other forms of the sport and gone along with Mclarens decision to offer him the drive.Luck? Get real!!!

Far too subtle for me I am afraid Reno!!Why lucky? If you use that as an excuse or reason for someones success, every driver who has won a race has been lucky to be in that car at that time!!!

Foo Atari, was FA supposed to win on a Minardi? MS too? Your question makes no sense.
Remind me, didn't Jacques Villeneuve step into the best car on the grid (by a country mile)in 95 up against an underachieving Hill? LH got in an equal if not second best car against a 2 times world champ and held his own.
So sorry if he says he wants to win and has grown as a driver blah blah. find me one guy on the grid who doesn't spout the same PR rubbish every year.
I'm bored of you lot - yawn

I think its just a given that whatever Hamilton says, there will be some ready and waiting to shoot him down with the same dated arguments that they have been using since the end of last season. Maybe it is time to change the record and focus on a new season.

I wouldn't call it luck working your way through all the major feeder series (and not just competing, but winning) to the point where you convince a top flight team to allow you to drive one of their precious high performing cars. Presumably teams like Mclaren don't let just anyone drive their cars - if I'm wrong, I've a phone call to make!
There's some faulty logic out there. If LH only succeeded because the McL was good, then given his results were pretty much the equal of FA, presumably FA was just lucky too. And given that Ferrari's car wasn't quite a match for the Mcl at the start of 07, then KR and FM were lucky the car got better as the season progressed?
