Sounds pretty arrogant from Lewis that he suggests other drivers will crack under his pressure when they see him in the mirror. That's what he would like obviously but whether that will really be the case I doubt it, but he tries with a bit of mind games.
I liked him last year and I enjoy his driving but he is very, very arrogant. And the British press used to call Schumacher "arrogant"? Yeah, right. I hope the British media will measure him with the same standards (critically for his arrogance) as they do with non-British drivers...
Do not expect to grow mature as other drivers, like Kimi or Fernando, he is talking like that much becoz he fears and afraid... Lets see how he handles this season then.
WOw, its really bizarre to hear a driver talkin like this. A little funny and very off putting. I mean, what are all the other drivers saying? Similar things but with tact, something Britains Lewis Hamilton seems to lack. This all just invokes the desire to see him loose. Is that petty?
black and proud! its wonderfull to have a new driver with so much selfconfidence! normally sportsmen are so booooring in their statements. steriotypes are all we listen to, the same old crpp like: ill doo my best for my fans and my team, my fans are my motivation, wee will have to wait and see, wee hope for the best, and bla bla bla etc when we hear a interview with almost any sportstar, you can predict everything they are gonna say! now this guy talks straight out, he is ambisius (like everyboduy else in the field) and he have the guts to admit it. he puts himselves on the line a real sportsmann!

Last year Lewis had the freedom and margin of error that accompanied a novice, whereas this year he will be expected to win. If he puts a foot wrong this season, a previously acceptable mistake will be regarded as an intolerable failure. The rod that LH is making for his own back may be put to good use by a new teammate who becomes the driver with nothing to lose, and HK will want to make the most of this opportunity at McLaren.
The cars are now devoid of sophisticated electronics, and traction control, and are all fitted with the SECU to guard against cheaters. A smooth approach shall be needed of all drivers to save the rear tyres when coming to the end of their useful life...

...a period when a heavy handed driver will be prone to mistakes, we all remember China last year.
If Ferrari and possible Renault are McL's strongest rivals, then these two teams enjoy the benefit of 3 experienced drivers, KR, FM and FA, in contrast to LH and HK who with only 17 GP's each might be able to handle the absence of TC, but their lack of knowledge may tell when setting up the McLaren to cope with the SECU. With Ferrari, both drivers are free from hassle and controversies, their budget is safe (no $100M fines), the cars seem to be the best, so the WDC and CC titles look to be in the books for them. LH would do well not to count his chickens before they hatch.
I feel again articles involving Lewis Hamilton are taken ridiculously out of context on crash.net although after watching Cars the other night, Lewis Hamilton reminds me of that Lightning McQueen character.
My misunderstood comment is not aimed at you Reno...unfortunate time for me to post.
I heard that once LH moves to Geneva he is changing his name to Louisus Hamiltinius, after the famous gladiator. The way he talks it seems like he is still living in Rome in the times of Nero, and he wants to cast himself as the terror of the F1 circuit.
Normally people who brag and shout like this are only hiding their inadequacy to cope with normality. As someone said before, LH urgently requires a professional PR manager to guide him trough the pitfalls that he is digging for himelf.
Roll on next weekend.

No problem Kiran, there seem to be quite a few guys on this site at this time. Good.
"hamilton "doesn't regard anyone as a threat (to him) this season" ??? how arrogant and naive."
Sorry but weather they say it or not, every driver out there is arrogant as hell and believes they are the best driver on the grid. They have to think that, otherwise they wouldn't have had the determination and desire to get to F1. I remember Jackie Stewart saying as much. They are all VERY arrogant.
And anyway he said later he doesn't look at any drivers as a threat, but more rivals and targets to beat. Whats wrong with that? At no point does he say he thinks he will have an easy drive to take the championship...
i always doubt on people who gives much promissees"!!
Most of time they are the one ending up disappointingly!!
He had promissed me to be iceman like Kimi, but not done

When you get success without much effort it makes you confused in sense of your own standards,Other last season rookies like Heikki, sutil, knows where they are and that may be great advantage for heikki, where as Lewis had lost his way,I am not saying that he is not talented,he is great talent but he must give himself time.

According to Crash, Hamilton said that he does not regard anyone as a threat this year, but that again his words could be turned against him. With Ferrari considered to be the best car for this season, and with two more experienced & hungry drivers in these cars, Lewis is either wearing blinkers, or else he is totally blinded to reality by the media coverage that he has received. He definitely does not have any professional respect for any of his peers.
Motor-racing is all about the joy of the fight, about respecting the opposition and doing one's best. It is about emotion.
If he keeps going like this he will be the guy that people shall love to see him lose. I feel sorry for him.
Far from cracking under Mr. hamilton's pressure, the rest of the grid will not give him the free pass he got last year. He made a few borderline reckless moves last year that he got away with. I doubt the same maneuvers will work in 2008. His comments are showing a lack of respect for his fellow drivers and they will not take kindlky to all of it. I predict a few collisions for him this year, especially at the first corner of lap 1. It will be interesting for sure to see how this all pans out over the full season. He is starting to go down a road (pun intended) that will make him a "marked man".
