A usual F1 race. Watch the start to see who wrecks, and watch the end to see who broke. Adding Bourdais adds some interest, though. If he was in a top car, everyone else would be racing for second.

yes, unusual and interesting race. hmilton won cleanly but the hamilton idolisers should not crown him champion just yet. he was lucky to be ahead of all the carnage. the results and placings through the race show that there are a lot more contenders this year. interesting that both ferraris, normally very reliable, should have unknown electronic engine problems. conspiracy theorists can have a field day. there may be more about this.

I would like to know how someone who failed to finish, scored points (Ferrari)?

Agro he got points on count back being Rubens was disqualified (the rules have been the same for years). Richard nobody is crowning Hamilton as we all know the Ferraris will be back at the next race but they didn't both go out with the same fault, also how can you say Lewis was lucky he put himself in that posisiton yesterday as that is what qualifying is for. He was no more lucky than any other driver that finished. They were all lucky not to get taken out or have problems.
What an interesting first race. I'm no fan of Hamilton but he deserved it, got away cleanly and stayed clear of all the incidents and had a fast reliable car underneath him. Delighted to see Rosberg make the step up onto the podium as well as seeing Williams back where they belong, a bit fortunate but thats a part of the game these days. Some right interesting goings on and you can see the drivers having to work for what they get...going to be a very interesting season to say the least.
Also, do you have to finish the race or not in order to get points? If so it would seem a bit fishy that KR was counted as finisher (-5L) despite the fact that he obviously retired (and noone finished placing behind him). Why is that?
KR impressed with his pace on that looong stint with soft tyres but boy, did he ever shoot himself in the foot. And Heidfeld, again proving to be the stronger of the BMW drivers (quali performance obvy down to fuel loads). I think he might be one to watch if BMW only manage to develop their car a bit more...
BUT the greatest sensations are obviously SeaBass - I did doubt he'd be this strong in F1 - & on the other side Piquet.

All cars which are within a certain time from the race winner are considered to have finished / are counted in the results. Even when you are not running anymore. There is a rule about this. It has been like this for many, many years. Nothing fishy, nothing pro Ferrari.
Well it was a champion performance from Lewis Hamilton and a very amateur performance from Kimi Raikonnen and as for Massa's move on DC well that was just plain crap driving. I think if you dont finish the race even if you end up in a position that usually scores points, you shouldnt score at all because you havent actually finished the race to earn the points
Lots of missed opportunities today - people like Sutil or Sato really could have scored were it not for circumstances, but it was just one of those races. As a side note, when was the last time BOTH Ferraris retired with mechanical problems??

Thanks, Sasha.
And I also think the crash with Massa and DC was crap driving - from DC. Massa was more than halfway up on him and DC left him nowhere to go, effectively taking both of them out. Massa isn't even pointing fingers about it but DC goes all grumpy. Watch where you're going instead - it's easier to avoid accidents that way.

Excellent race full of incident, superb result for Lewis. Dear rip; dont post negative thoughts on our sport, if you don't like F1 then find another forum.

Felipe should have kept his line. Then there wouldn't of been a crash.
Ummm except there was no line to keep cos Coulthard left no room at all. Massa took the inside line and was more than halfway alongside DC - thus DC should have stayed on the outside line. Simple as that. There's always a risk to overtaking, and racing should be hard and fair. Massa committed to the inside line and was alongside, so he had nowhere to go when DC took the apex. If DC wanted to protect the inside line he should have done so earlier, not in the middle of braking. I really don't see what Massa did wrong - plenty of similar manouvres went fine in the same race.

Well done Lewis!
Sad to see the Ferrari threat didn't materialise due to reliability and a few wild moves by the red boys. Maybe Kimi/Ferrari is missing TC more than most? No doubt the Ferraris will improve (as ever) and I hope they do so we can have some great battles!
Hamilton's talent was clear-again I'm looking forward to hearing the Hamilchoke lobby's excuses as the season goes on This kid is class! A pretty solid weekend from Kovi too, looks like he will be an able deputy and probably be able to give LH a run for his money when he settles down.
Good to see Bourdais getting some TV time, looks a fine driver.
Alonso, oh dear, his fans will be on a anti-LH rant. Sad.

My post under the feature "Race Reactions" is also applicable to this topic, so I will not repeat it here.
I don't see why anyone should be on an anti-Lewis rant as Rossicorp suggested. Lewis had a very good race from pole and he maintained his position throughout. Alonso, improved from 11th on the grid to 4th in the race, having overtaken Kovalainen twice and stuck it up Ron Dennis after he (RD) showed his reaction of total glee when HK momentarily overtook him in the final stages of the race.
The few drivers that finished the race deserve a good welldone from everyone.
Thomas, in your post Massa was first more than half way alongside and then later alongside. If you posted more, maybe he would have been ahead of DC!

.Reno you are a bad looser and even worse at trying to cover it up. You don't admit it but you are a Alonso fan. Why shouldn't Ron look happy he was going to be happy with whoever his drivers passed. What you have to remember is that if no cars had dropped out Lewis would still have been in the top 4 Alonso on the other hand only got there because of others dropping out. Just be honest. Ron is going to have the last laugh and as you say and stick it up Alonso because Alonso has gone to a team that will not get close to the Mclaren's or Ferraris for the rest of the year. Don't tell me Alonso is happy at Renault as no competitive driver should be happy stuck in the mid field
