This article is completely random - "Random JYS statements on LH" would be a better title. Yawn.

Glad to see I'm not the only one fed up of hearing Stewart's inane opinions on F1.

What impact has Lewis made on F1 that others didn't? He made F1 popular in Britain again. So what? Alonso made it popular in Spain, Schuey in Germany, Senna in Brazil and Prost in France. That's not a unique thing. Other than that what is that makes LH more special than those great Champs? His skin color or what? It's not a racist remark, I'm just curious what makes Stewart think LH has made a bigger imact on F1 than any of those former heroes.

Why are people so impressed with Lewis? He did start his career in a Mclaren after all? Lewis is the only person I can remember who started his career in the best car on the grid, his success really isn't a surprise in hindsite. Besides as I can tell Lewis is only popular in Britain.

"Nobody in F1 has ever had the impact Lewis has had," Stewart told sports channel Setanta, "Jim Clark and Ayrton Senna were both shy, and Alain Prost didn't project the way Lewis does. Lewis is just so much broader in his appeal than all the others.
I really agree Jackie Stewart: ist true no has done the way Lewis .............

"because no sport has the global interest that F1 has."
Try soccer and tennis just for starters, what a dopey statement.
why are some people so jealous with Hamilton, because his color or what ? i have been watching f1 racing since 1980, what Lewis did no one has achievet, not because he has best car, he is amazing drive, look back Kimi he start best car like Lewis what he did is nothing for Mc..mercedes,he is world champion but he was very lucky for that, and he will never be again even if he has best car, because he cant beat Lewis. Lewis is best drive every i have seen seen in my life

I am tired of British people talking about Lewis as a God, walking on water, etc. He is a good driver in a good car. Their attitude was the same with Hill, Tim Henman and Andy Murray in tennis. It's pathetic.

Shariff, mate, what are you talking about. Kimi started racing in F1 with Sauber in 2001. He was with Mclaren from 2002 to 2006 and he finished 2nd overall in 2003 and 2005. He's been one year with Ferrari and won the WDC. Lewis came 2nd overall last year with joint 109 points same as his teammate. He still has to win a WDC. Not being a member of the GPDA clearly shows his arrogance and aloofness and not as JYS has said better image projection. He's popular in the UK, but although known outside, he is not so very much liked.

Not liked by the hundreds of fans who waited patiently at the last test in Spain to meet him or those cheering when he won last weekend? Finger on the pulse again Ralf??

Dave we are not talking about the hundreds of hangers on that are found around every driver or celebrity, or those that were cheering in the stands. We get those all the time. We are talking about what counts most. The thousands of F1 followrs around the world. As I said he might be well liked for the moment,(same as Button was some time ago), in the UK, because he's the new kid on the block. Outside the UK he is not that much liked, although admired, because after all he's providing a spectacle and someone that the masses would love to see lose, the same as in the Schumacher era. There were those who idolised MS others that did not. It's a matter of opinion.

What proof have you that he is not popular?Just because some jealous cranks whinge on here does not mean he is not liked by lots of others around the world. It is easy for you to say he is not liked but who says so?

dave. it helps give you a more informed viewpoint. look through motoring news results of a number of years ago.
For someone who is relatively new to this site, afaik, you seem intent on making enenies as fast as possible. Dave is a regular contributor who typically makes intelligent additions (well as intelligent as it gets here anyhow!)
And yes, please do enlighten us with details of your successful race and rally career. Then we're all off to google to swoon.
