Although I do like Domenicalli I think Ferrari will miss Jean Todt's leadership. When you look at the record of the man it's pretty impressive. To pick up an unreliable, unorganised team that had become a bit of a joke and turn it into a team that won 5 championships in a row (and challenged to the death for a further 3 before them) is surely one of the most impressive turn arounds in history.

Im surprised Ferrari let him go seeing as any driver who ever enters Ferrari seems to never leave cos they wont let them

Nathan, I'm sure it wasn't all down to JT, as it is known that MS had a BIG part to play as it Brawn and many others.
Hopefully, Ferrari will turn into a more sporting team rather than one that wants to win at ANY cost and in any manner possible.

Nathan
I agree, don't have to like him to respect him.
It seems rather a quick moving on, he'd only been in post a little over a year. I wonder if there is anthing else behind this?
Also Ferrari have had so much skill and experiance leave, and now they have started the year with an really poor weekend. They need to get a grip on their performance in the next race or two or I could see the blame games and politics of Ferrari pre - Todt returning.
I think this is probably the final blow for Ferrari, It's all back in total control of the Italians now, so I feel that last weekends debacle will probably be a big feature for the rest of the season and beyond, sad really, just when we finally got some racing between 2 teams. We'll have to hope BMW and Williams develop fast and Mclaren dont to get some racing
Seems strange this, given that he's staying at Ferrari it doesn't seem to be because of a falling out (as I thought when reading the headline). Still very odd timing though, isn't the close season normally when this kind of thing happens?
Ferrari back to where they where pre Schumacher* - Suits me just fine
*led by Italians doing absolutely anything but driving the car development forward

Disassociation process from Ferrari as a prelude to making a bid for the FIA Presidency when Mosley retires? Another ploy by Ferrari to assure their pre-eminent place in motor racing.

Still think he'll re-appear as FIA President in 2009.....continuity of favouring Ferrari (what AM I saying!!!)
Sadly, I agree with Morgan & TriumphST here - Todt will be FIA president next year - it's a simple solution for Ferrari to keep their control over F1 in the post Mosley era, as it will be an easy way for them to continue to manipulate our sport!!!!!

Sounds like the team is imploding from all the inside politics that are being played there. Looks like it's going to get worse too. First they retire Michael, then Brawn goes on leave. Stepney goes nuts and now Jean Todt is out. Most of the championship team is gone.. is it a deliberate act to step away from the shadow of those individuals?
I reckon that without JT there, Felipe Massa and Nicolas Todt will be left to fend for themselves. Considering FM's performance in Australia, he's probably next on the chopping block. Good thing Nicolas is rumored to be looking into buying STR.

Maybe William Hill or Paddy Power should open books on who will succeed Mosley....and profits could go to the Silverstone development fund!!!!
I dont know why people are surprised by this, a friend and i have known this for a long time. Hes moving over to the road car side as a CEO or something, and that was decided a year or more ago.
Mark Is that the same one BE recently put up for sale, had a sideline of selling the old fat as biofuel for F1?

Say what youlike about Todt, there's no doubting he brought the glory years back to Ferrari.
But what is he most going to be remembered for? Personally I think it's the backsniping and questionable ethics the team had a reputation for '97-'00 (when TC OFFICIALLY returned!!) and the effect their 'win at all costs' regime had on the sport
ramjam 69, agree with your second paragraph competely.
Regading your first paragraph, I'll stick with my earlier post. It would be interesting to know if MS could have done what he did without JT and how much influence they had over each other with regards to the ethical line that Ferrari went down.
