This is fantastic news, no more adverts interrupting the F1! WOOOT!

Hopefully this also means we'll see the back of Allen too...

Faaaaaaantastic!! No more adverts at crucial times, missed overtaking... All we need now is Murray Walker to return...! ;)

AMAZING!

What a massive blow for ITV and what a coip for the BBC and a considerable boost to F1 and it's coverage in the UK, ITV have provided us the viewers with second rate coverage since their acquisition despite all their fanfare.

The BBC will provide complete unbiassed coverage that will be state of the art and groundbreaking, I just can't wait!

I think some of us see the old Beeb coverage through Rose-tinted spectacles - don't forget that they hardly ever showed qually and it was basically a segment in grandstand rather than a show in its own right.

Nevertheless, ITV never really 'pushed it' - they were happy to just follow the cars round the track and rake in the ad money, I suspect the BBC, as Ben said, will offer us state of the art, groundbreaking coverage this time around.

I never thought I'd wish a season away!

Fine, no breaks and a return to a quality broadcast and the return of Murray Walker (last bit was a joke). But why had BE found it necessary to go back to the BBC (with his tail between his legs?).

No mention of a bidding war, perhaps ITV didn't want it that badly because it's still a minority sport and not the global phenomena BE talk's it up to be!

Superb news. I've never enjoyed ITV's coverage of F1, so it'll be great to see it return to the BBC - Hopefully Martin Brundle will be a part of their plans. He's the one positive I can think of out of ITV's coverage.

Be good if they could keep the reporting team though, wouldn't be the same without Goodman and Brundle et al.

Sure, James Allan is a little biased towards the red cars, but he's trying hard to miss as many key moments as the great Murray. I think once senility sets in proper, he'll be right up there.

But please, not the crisp salesman as front man....

OH DE****
F1 back on the beeb. I'll grant you, NO MORE ADS, but how many of you remember switching on and watching cricket, football, tennis or snooker instead because they were running late - or missing the last few laps because it rained and the race over-ran the 1hr 45mins that the beeb allowed in their scheduling.
No qualifying - The race from Green light to chequered flag - No interviews
We'll see

its good news, next step is to make the coverage interactive. this is the worlds most high tech sport but the tv coverage is the most outdate service of the top sports.

cant wait, who will commentate? no more james allen surely? tho i hope Brundle moves over.

Formula One has moved one considerably since the last time we brodcast the sport, equally the BBC has moved on considerably, you'll be blown away by our coverage, I can assure you that.

In defence of ITV there are good reasons why they aren't able to provide a fuller and more comprehensive coverage, it's called BCE and FOM.

Bernie imposes tight restrictions on what is allowed and what is not, no video footage within the pits or in the paddock during the race, that's why you only hear audio interviews during the race, it's sadly down to funding and how much abroadcaster has to spend with FOM.

We shall see!

David Crofts of Radio 5 seems to be the favourite at present, although ITV were lining him up as well, it's rather exciting to say the least.

Let's not forget also that ITV still doesn't broadcast in high definition whereas BBC, CH4, SKy etal have all made a huge leap forward in broadcast quality. Watching F1, whether it be a spectacle or parade in high definition will be worth the watching if it's on a par with Sky's HD broadcast of A1GP, Nascar, etc...my only concern has already been mentioned in that the BBC don't allocate the schedule time to broadcast the qualifying and full race build up etc that ITV do just now...

BRILLIANT NEWS. And hopefully that will be the end of Brundle and Blundell as well as the adverts. But please keep James Allen.
