Despite Ferrari – and Felipe Massa in particular – leaving their competitors quite literally trailing in their wheeltracks during the morning session on practice day in Malaysia, Lewis Hamilton fought back in the afternoon to put McLaren-Mercedes back on top – and then stated that his day had not been perfect.
Ah well, everyone remembers Lewis' successful races in the rain last year, sic. He was illegally winched out from the gravel when he skidded straight through the bend, allowing him to score a few points to the detriment of everyone else. In my book he is 3rd placed driver last season, as his errors in the rain should have worked against him not in his favour. Talking about favouritism.....

You obviously didn't see the Japanese Grand Prix then did you Button!
Also, i do believe that Lewis scored no points anyway at the Nurburgring in the race you specifically mention as he placed 9th on the road...Oh dear me Mr Button, they don't give points for 9th place do they....Please think before you post.
Of course I saw the Japan GP last year, Kiran. That was the one in which your favourite driver braked under the safety car and caused a crash between Vetel and Webber. The FIA were expected to disqualify Lewis for that race or to impose a grid penalty for the next race, but they did not do either. Talking about favouritism......

Ferrari still has an upper hand despite last minute heroics by LH. I believe Hamilton was on low fuel and sticky tiers, and his pace dropped off significantly on his second fastest lap of the day by .03 of the sec or so. Kimi was devastatingly quick on the harder compound, and keep in mind that in Oz Kimi was on a one stopper on the softer compound which means that their tire wear, at the moment, is superior to Merc. If they can stay trouble free through the quali, as well as the race, I'm inclined to think that the prancing horse might bring home a one-two punch unless Lewis or BMW can spoil the day.

Not if I have anythig to say about it. I wander if my pretty boy chu chu would agree with those idiotic comments. Well, the silly boy is probably shopping for another train at the moment or is having a nap now.

Mr Button forgets, that Mr Michael Schumacher was also pushed back onto the track by frantically waving people onto the race track when he too was stuck in the gravel trap during a race.
Hamilton never did this, the crane was there by default by the side of the track - not waved on like Schumacher did.
So Schumacher broke the FIA safety rules and Hamilton did not.
Nice try buddy.

Hi Button, I do not see any favouritism really, as Lewis Hamilton was well within his rights to get put back on the track as there was no such rule against it at the time.
With regard to the incident in Japan, although Hamilton looked shaky under the SC, I feel that Vettel has to shoulder most responsibility for that one. He was even quoted as not looking in front at the time of the crash.
Hamilton is not my favourite driver but I like him alot and feel he will certainly be a world champion in his career. If it rains in Sepang or not, I am sure he will be bringing his McLaren home in a solid position and making it stick to the track. The guy has undeniable talent.
grumpy doctor . you re wrong, as wrong as it gets. 6 cars skidded off the track in that turn. then came LH, all other drivers were told to leave the car, LH was not. blatant favpuritism againts the most basic racing rule - u need to complete the distance without any help, definitely not by a crane placing u back on track. if u cant understand that, i dont know what your idea of racing is
I add that of all spinners on that occasion at the Nurburgring Hamilton, unlike Sutil, Liuzzi and of course Jenson Button was the only competitor to have kept his engine running and was therefore well within his rights to get put back on the road, although I do have to say I questioned it at the time. Bringing up such a futile critisism is a cheap.
Just because he kept his engine running he was "well within his rights"? That's a silly syllogism Mr Patel. You are almost better than my silly boy chu chu who just woke up from his afternoon nap. I still want that date mate.

Ok, anyway enjoy the race. I am sure that it will provide us with yet more talking points.
Lewis was the only one that kept his engine running and he had the right to continue his race!Something that Michael Schumacher did some years ago!Although I don't agree with the crane help he didn't do anything illegal!Rules allowed this and i repeat, it wasn't the first time it happened in F1 history! But after all Lewis DID SCORE NO POINTS at that race,so WHY BOTHER!Like Kiran Patel said is just cheap critisism for something that had no effect on last year's championship!

Same to you Mr Patel. At least you seem to be a resonable man unlike my boy chu chu who is playing with his train.

Enlighten me please. There are several near similar names posting here. We have Fernando Alfoso and Fernando Alfonso and Fernando AIonso who seem to be the same guy but who forgets what name he has used from post to post. Idiotic to the core if you ask me, and this guy should get his act together or stop posting his drivel.
Then we used to have Fernando Alonso (registered). No one could make heads or tails of what he used to post.
And we have Fernand Alonso, the only guy out of these who seem to know what he's talking about, but where is he?
Button started the ball rolling here and he's wound you all up away from the subject.

In F1, the marshalls are only allowed to aide a driver if the car is in a dangerous position. Happened to Eddie Irvine in Monaco one year. Every other driver had retired on that corner for hitting the barrier. Someone actually hit the grabber too!
The engine was still running, which I thought was bizarre, especially seeing it on the crane! But I can't see how you think it was illegal.
You can't say Lewis has favouritsm either. Did the marshalls give Lewis a push in China? no.

Why is everybody talking about an incident that happened last year? Get over it!!! For some, it doesn't seem to matter what Lewis does or how brilliant his first season in F1 was, they just seem to slag him off. For a rookie last year was exceptional but it was last year. What really matters is 2008. Lewis destroyed the competition last weekend and the result was only made to look closer because of intervention from the safety car. Moan all you want but Lewis does his talking on the track, dry or wet.
