Honda aiming for top ten after Button flourish.

Honda aiming for top ten after Button flourish.

Jenson Button's superb performance in free practice ahead of Sunday's Malaysian Grand Prix has given Honda hope of making it into the top ten on merit in qualifying for the second race of the 2008 Formula 1 campaign – even though the new car is still at a very early developmental stage.

Great performance from Button although it is only practice. I'm sure he'll bring it home in the points this weekend and will stain every sinew to get maximum potential out of that car.

Yes only practice, and it was a qualifying run at that.

Honda will be lucky to qualify in the top 10 for the race, let alone finish in the Top 10.

Well done to Button.

However, practice does not really give a true showing of a team/drivers pace, i think Button's fuel load was probably quite low when he managed the 4th best time in FP1.

We shall see, i for one would love to see Button scoring points this weekend.

Fingers crossed for Honda. I imagine Ross Brawn has a sore foot after all the backside-kicking he's been doing since last weekend!

I imagine that JB was running a light car in FP1, but there is no denying on the technical front Honda are moving in the right direction. Points by mid-season on merit I reckon.
