Fernando Alonso has dropped the clearest signal that he may only be using the Renault team as a stop-over en route to a more competitive seat that will allow him to fight for the Formula One world title.
For all you Alonso fans out there extolling the virtues of your driver, this is yet another example of the extent of his loyalty.
Dont try to tell me his attitude at McLaren wasnt like this either.
How arrogant and yet another giggle over the kick in the teeth it will be to Flavio.

Just read the report again and he even has a dig at Massa. What an absolute disgrace. Perhaps the FIA should be taking action for bringing the sport into disrepute. Oh sorry it couldnt get any more corrupt and disreputable.
Before anyone says anything I remain a fan of F1, albeit incredibly disapointed at the constant off track BS.

I already noticed that Renault will be only his transit before kicks Massa out of Ferrari, on the other Hand, di Montezemolo never hides his like to FA, so the chance of him joining Ferrari is getting bigger in 2009 seeing from Renault performance dan Massa's stupid mistake in Malaysia.
I only expect him not leaving Renault because it is the team that took him to the title crown... Disloyal?... maybe... but why should he? - at least that's in his thought I guess. ;)
Alonso should have an X-FACTOR style show, called X-Fernandofactor, where all the F1 teams have to show off their talents (races, pit stops etc), and every year, he choses the best team....just a thought
I notice the fanboys are missing the point completely. I know a driver will always want to drive the best car, but to start talking about leaving after 2 races, plus his comments about Massa are unforgiveable. Wasnt it Alonso complaining about lack of team support at McLaren. I would hardly be busting a gut to help Alonso if this is his attitude after 2 races. Talk about spoilt brat throwing his toys out of the pram. And as for Ferrari not robbing him of a race Barrichello anyone????

That was then - there was a faster guy than rubens there.
what toys out of the pram? wtf u talking about? renault know they have a driver way better than they deserve judging by the work tyhey ve done over 07. he ll help improve the car, pull a few good results (he did a 4th in the first race while the car s not even the 5th best) and if ferrari wants him, he ll leave.
talk about atittude... im sure briatore and renault know about fa s atittude (which led them to 2 world chships) a bit more than you.
Alonso will go to a team where he has the best chance of winning another title - it isn't rocket science. 2008 was always going to be season for 'treading water' ie FA to get out of the Mclaren mess and see what seats are available in 2009. Renault need to build him a car to win a championship or he is gone - they know this as they agreed to this clause......

The best drivers get to choose who they drive for and the other seats fall into place after that. If Alonso is dropping hints about the team raising their game so what - I'm sure it's been exaggerated by the media, but all drivers want to drive for the best team and there can't be anything more frustrating than believing that you should be winning and therefore it must be the car or the team that is at fault. Fangio won five titles with four manufactureres - he had the knack of switching teams at just the right moment in order to stay in the best car - I see nothing wrong with that.

Having made the choice to go to Renault, FA needs them to be a front running team either late this year or early next, or he has to make a move.*
I'd say FA has a year, maybe two, to retain the aura of being one of the top drivers. If he stops winning, especially if his team mate starts matching him, he'll be last years man, and no longer be in a position to chose.
*Still can't work out how and why Ferrari would team Kimi with FA in 2009.
I am an Alonso fan and the fact is all drivers want to win races, moreso a two time WC. It all comes down to the best car and driver. Go Alonso go I agree with you chu chu.
"Everyone knows if he won 2 on the Renault he ll smoke the rest in a Ferrari. KR included"
He won the title because he had the BEST car. Ive said it before and you always leave the thread, but the best car isnt always the fastest. Whats the point in having the fastest car if it isnt going to do a full race?
He beat Kimi because the 2005 Renault was more reliable, and he beat Schumi in 2006 because the Ferrari was average until Mid season. 30 points ahead to equal with 2 races to go anybody?
This man has tasted the ultimate in this sport and he wants more. There seems to be nice people on the forum talking about layalty and how can he say this that and the other after two races bla bla bla. This is not a nice people sport and Alonso doesn't give a rats about loyalty or being Mr nice he just wants more world titles and wants to be in the fastest machine possible. He's blown it for a couple of years by foolishly getting caught up in the LH media publicity circus at Maclaren instead of just driving. If he'd stayed there and handled it for one more year he would probably win the WC in this years car.He would have one last year if it wasn't for LH wrecking the Hungry GP Qualifying.

hahah Chris, sure that was my fanboy side. But anyway i think FA and Ferrari would be the strongest team providing Ferrari have a car as strong as in 07 or as in 08. Alonso seems to be very constant and for some reason his cars are usually reliable, and doesnt make many mistakes through the year. I d def put my money down for him. I cant agree wit Renault being the best car those years. Both Ferrari and McLaren failed, the Renault was slower, they chose reliability over performance, something RD never understood til Alonso got to McLaren, Neither did Kimi
Loyalty in spain? there is no culture for loyalty in spain. its an egoist place which you can see in the relationships at private and work level. Loyalty is not something valued here and if you are loyal - you get kicked in the ass.
so, CHU CHU+F1Tos, you sure seem spanish, as for both of you loyalty does not account for anything.
This is different in the rest of western europe where in places like England, Germany, France Austria and others loyalty is seen as something paramount.
There must be a reason for all the chinese people coming here by the 100.000 and opening 0.75 shops: because in spain counts "what ever is the cheapest" and "if you work better than me you are a traitor"

I'm certainly not Spanish and your comments are bordering on Racism. I am very loyal personally but I thought we are taking about Alonso an F1 in general. If I was Spanish I'd be P I S S E D O F F at the B U L L S H I T you have posted and W A N K E R S like you get on here and wreck what is normally a good F1 rave. Signing off!

This is a very normal tactic used by the driver who wants to win but can't have the car to do so. It's a way to push the team too. Renault wasn't born in yesterday I don't think they will take his comment seriously as you guys do. It's not like if FA says nothing he will be royal. Hello? People who are not royal don't say because they do things behind your back.
