Sir Jackie Stewart fears that Max Mosley's insistence on remaining in his post in the wake of the damning sex scandal allegations surrounding him could seriously damage the sport, whilst stressing that if the FIA President is forced to resign – as many believe he should do – whoever is brought in to replace him must be a Formula 1 outsider.
JYS is correct,if MM had been in any other organisation, or even in politics,he would have gone by now.The reputation of F1 & motorsport has taken considerable blows in the last few years, many self inflicted.Mr Mosley's continued statements that he has done nothing wrong has dragged motosport down to a new low, & companies will almost certainly think twice about being involved in a sport that allows prominent figures of authority to participate in such activities without taking action of some form Apparently the FIA senate will be watching a 4 1/2 hr video of the Mr Mosley "party"(according to some media, maybe they will see the light & releave MM of his position for the good of the sport

I doubt it will damage the sport. This incident is a private matter and should be handled outside of the sport. Other than Max being in the position he's in it has little impact. If/when Max steps down the sport will continue. His position is not required at F1 races and if he chose to be a less public figure most of us wouldn't even know who he is. JYS has had a hard on for Max for years, odd considering Max's improvements in safety, and so of course it's easy to see why he wants Max gone, and it's hard to argue otherwise given the media circus ensuing. I'm with Kimi on this one, private life is just that. Hamilton etc. remarking on role models; who had Max as a role model, ever?

Dale, the sport will go on with or without him, but the issue is how much damage will have been done to potential sponsors opinions of the sport.
Problem is, MM doesn't really care about how much damage he does so long as he is able to keep his position of power.

Yeah, a private life is just that - private. But as soon as that private life becomes public, it's not a private affair anymore.
The ethics of printing the story are a moot point - the information is now in the public domain and it has already affected the sport. As far as anyone is concerned, the FIA president has to be - as far as it is possible to prove - whiter than white. He must be able to interact with people from all races and religions as a morally sound individual - he was asked not to attend the Bahrain GP by the Crown Prince because of moral objections from his country. That, I'm afraid, makes his position completely untenable.
I doubt any further damage can be done to F1 anyway. The series are ridiculous, uninteresting, the Ferrari vs McLaren alleged spyrow was pathetic, how on earth the fact that Mosley likes to be whipped naked and tied can do any more damage to F1? Damage was done ages ago, with compulsory fuel stops, mainly, and inability to restore a formula where drivers overtake each other on the track.
I have switched to motorcycle racing a long time ago, and I enjoy everyminute of this true sport, definitely sorting the men from the boys.
All these gentlemen (MM, JYS, BE, JT... well not that gentle actually) will keep on fighting each other until they realize the F1 races have no spectator...

Some pretty logical thoughts from a certified halfwit! I'm with you JYS.

Mosely is a hypocrite.......he stated during the spygate saga that it was not how the facts came into the public domain that was in question but now that they were they needed to be judged. It is exactly the same for him now....amazing how ones word can come back to haunt!
I agree his private life should be private but the fact that the head of the FIA cannot attend a Grand Prix because of his private life makes his position untenable..he has to go and now

n y is lewis talking about role model ?? he is just has a media attention seeking syndrome. he has to comment on how ferrari's are fast, then wot mosley shd do, how bad fernando is(even if he is the one who has always kept quite, infact i have started respecting this guy after all this, never liked him before), he has to make sure all his affairs are covered in tabloids, i mean enuff of this crap !!!!

Regardless about whether what he did was private or not, the comments that he made about BMW/Mercedes during WW2 are enough of a reason for him to resign. If the News of the World really fabricated the Nazi aspect of what he did, then why even bring up WW2 and BMW/Mercedes if you are not somehow trying to justify the Nazi aspects of what you did.
I don't think he realizes that even with the power he has as president of the FIA, the combined power of BMW/Mercedes/Honda/Toyota/Rupert Murdoch are all too much for him to even think of taking on. How many teams in F1 rely on BMW/Mercedes/Honda/Toyota? I am guessing at least half, what happens if he stays and they threaten to leave F1?

Jackie Stewart only has the best interests of motor racing in mind while Max and Bernie only care about themselves and the power and money they make. I read this article and believe both should be in front of the courts sportspromedia.com/mosley.htm

Firstly MM is not the Poster boy of F1, he is someone who does his nitty gritties behind the scene(Ironic) so him continuing wouldn't tarnish F1 image. Secondly, Unlike Naomi Campbell MM is not paid for his public image but the business decisions. People have their Sexual Fetish, what if someone has of the "Nazi" kind. Logically would we install someone with a foot fetish as the head of Adidas? Therefore asking a resignation on same grounds doesn't hold. Thirdly, Stoddart and the likes are by default media hungry so them tom tomming and using hyperbole is more than just expected. Therefore their views are not worth the memory space they are stored on!!

So, it's been true all along what some people have said. ' F1 is run by a Nazi and a train robber!'

I am not sure I agree with JYS that the next head of the FIA needs to come from outside the sport. Whoever it is can always get advisors for the complex business structures or economics. Their fundamental skill needs to be in motor sport.
Come on, Just get rid of the freakin' Nazi pervert.
Why should there be ANY discussion. Who does this warped man think he is? Because he is rich he can do whatever he pleases? A sad state of affairs....

Two words **** Pound, he has no connection to any teams or manufacturer. He calls them as he sees them and is internationally recognized as someone who is a good leader.

I want him to be gone ASAP. I am not sure I can stand having to read anymore about him. We have three long weeks until the next race. I am hoping for new subject matter.

Mosley is a tail of F1. When he was gone F1 gets fresh air!...
Actually Mosley and Bernie should leave together because they remind me fossiles of Motorsport?...

Wayne if you are talking about the former head of WADA I have to disagree. Cycling is in a terrible place now as a direct result of him. Talk about making innappropriate comments, this guy is getting sued by the UCI for his big mouth.
Max simply doesn't get it. Had he dressed up as a cowboy and had the girls dress up as Indians, nobody would care but Jane Fonda. It is precisely the Naziwear that is causing the kafuffle.
And a hint to Max: since all the major automobile manufacturers are located in Japan and Germany, the less said about World War II the better, if you get my drift. Nudge, nudge, wink, wink, say no more, say no more. As your own countrymen have remarked to me on more than one occasion, "Makes you wonder who won the war, doesn't it?"
