Honda: No plans for Aguri rescue.

Honda: No plans for Aguri rescue.

Honda has said that it is not considering upping its support for the ailing Super Aguri F1 team, despite concerns that the minnow could go out of business after an expected investor had a change of heart.

Its a sad story of a hard working team.As for the spice group and driver Narain Karthikeyan yo might as well have my 10year old grandson drive.

Yes it is a shame, just goes to show how exspensive the sport really is.
The running of a team, the cost soon adds up.
Shame the FIA does not come to the rescue, after all i am sure some of the money from the £50m fine from McLaren could be put to good use in this situation, until a serious and sound financial backer comes forward!

While I really wish someone would bail out the team, it would only b ea stop gap measure. What really needs to be addressed is the long term viability of independent teams (of which Williams looks to soon be the only one left).

F1 has gone corporate, and I don't really see anyway back in the near future..

i doubt if honda would send any more money down the drain. they cannot even make their own team competitive. surely suzuki, when he set up the team was aware of the costs involved and the potential for failure. he should have looked forward more than two ye***** if sponsorship is failing, then it proves that the team had let down their sponsors by not producing the goods promised.

Yet again a little team has been sacrificed. Honda should be re-assessing their values. An expensive adventure at Brackley has yet to yield any tangible results versus their budgets. The little upstarts at leafield have continually embarassed their big spoilt brothers. Perspective is needed, there are less than 150 employees at Leafield who committ their own time, emotions and give their all to win as much as possible. They are not along for the ride, they want to win and have proved time and time again during the time of Super Aguri just how special they are. We should be saving this team and ensuring that this spirit survives in such a corporate fog.

@ A Weary Racing Widow -
I agree they deserve saving, but the reason Super Aguri exists is because of the main Honda team. The reason they were able to embarrass the works team in '07 is because of the sound car that the works team built in '06! The reason they can function with a mere 150 people is because of the Honda works team do their R&D work & gave them a proven package!

The Aguri team undoubtedly has good spirit and are talented, but just because the works team produced a dog in 2007 which happened to be no quicker than the hand-me-down 2006 chassis that Aguri used, you can't assume that Aguri would have done any better if they were the works outfit designing from scratch.

I'm sorry but I think the team should have gone a long time ago. It may be sad to some but its been a fairy-tale from teh beginning... They started on the wrong foot by completely relying on Honda Cars in the first place... In reality this team will never emerge as anything but as back end fillers and with even more race plans in the future its just a matter of time where the sponsors will stop throwing good money after bad...sorry but thats my view. Take a look at Toro Rosso, even with REDBULL money its looking unlikly RED BULL will be running both teams next year. If SA wants to carry on racing best start at other feeder class and perhaps grow the company that way.

The reason Super Aguri is on its way out as is Toro Rosso is because of the death of the customer car. When Super Aguri and Toro Rosso showed up, the word was that customer cars would be allowed, which would have made their team models viable. This is also what got Prodrive in the game and why there was a mad rush all of a sudden to get the 12th spot on the grid. Once the customer car rule dissipated it immediately crushed both Super Aguri and Toro Rosso's chances as well as the interest of all of those parties vying to be the 12th team.

Blame Williams and Force India for killing the customer car. Because of their selfishness they have made the sport poorer.

Why should Honda put money into this team? its not the official Honda team, its a customer team and Honda have got enough trouble getting a descent car for theirselves so theres no way they'd be able to do anything with this team.

To people who say Williams is killing the sport by not endorsing customer cars go and watch some one make Formula...

I think with customer cars it would be a fake way of filling up the grid with cars that aren't allowed to race eachother. I think teams would be better off running 3 cars than having an A-team, B-team, C-team, etc. of which the A-team would not allowed to be beaten.

Although I feel sorry for Super Aguri, F1 needs to remain the pincle of motorsport.

Spot on Nathan. I have just read on another site that Bernie might be standing in to help them out and also putting them in touch with a German consortium. There is no way this is Williams or Force India fault. This has been down to bad management. They have been disillusioned about funds just like Spyker and Midland.

I think they should just invest $50,000 in 50 kia's and we run it spec style for a season! Then would could put an end to all this financial crap and actually see some real racing. Meanwhile the FIA should fire everyone in charge of F1 and rebuild the series from scratch with the number one rule being no more bull****. Followed closely by rule number two that every decision that is made must incorporate some form of logic.
