Brundle: Tyre-warmer ban sensible, provided...

Martin Brundle says he believes the new 2009 technical regulations in Formula 1 are ‘a move in the right direction' for the sport, though he echoed leading drivers' fears over the inherent dangers of a ban on tyre-warmers with the top flight set to return to slick rubber next year.

Oh Martin why dont you shut up. Everything is sensible provided that the solution is perfect. Wake up! Of course it is... Are you running out of important things to say and have to write some more technical filler to justify your existance. You are way off the reality in today F1 racing and your commenrty and writing is becoming more and more akin to tabloid style... please give up or shut up.

Slicks were always the way even the idiots stuck to groove tyres for far too long... I think next time a rule change like this type I think the commitee decisions must go away and consult the drivers... I welcome slicks back with both hands but apart from that Martin does talk alot bs. Tyre blankes should stay as teams already bought them.. by all means make them solar powered but to to tell them to shelf them makes no sense.

Not sure about banning tyre warmers - from watching Champcar/Indycar for many years so many mistakes happen with cold tyres - even if the top drivers can get to grips with cold tyres - there will be back markers who will struggle and may even take out the front runners when being overtaken.

And how long before traction control is back - Team A and B are caught using illegal software and the FIA decide that the only way to control it is to make it legal - we have been there before !!

Until that magic tyre is invented the blankets should stay. How will the rule makers and tyre manufacturers feel if and or when that rule cost's someones life.

"How will the rule makers and tyre manufacturers feel if and or when that rule cost's someones life."

In a modern F1 car, highly unlikely. F1 is probably one of the safest motorsports in the world. And if it did happen, well it's motorsport there will always be an element of danger. If you don't like it get out.

Clearly F1 drivers and many fans have no idea how easy they have it

Now thats dangerous, running with cold tyres isn't really

I had a look FOO ATARI and their mad men. Bikes are a different kettle of fish though certainly a lot narrower than an F1 car so I still stand by comments on this subject. The tyres will get hot anyway with in a lap or two so why not heat them or at least partly heat them before they get back out on the track to prevent any potential disasters. Thanks for the the link though extremely entertaining.
