Red Bull magnate calls for four-car teams.

Red Bull drinks company founder Dietrich Mateschitz has suggested Formula 1 teams should be permitted to field four cars in the light of the ban on ‘customer' entries in the top flight as of 2010.

Great idea! but even better is to have three cars per team and only have two drivers allowed per race with a maximum of 18 races allowed each season per driver and bring more races into the fold say 26 races per season. That way Bernie doesn't have to scrap any of the current races and put in the extras that want F1 GP's. Also having more drivers driving at their home GP's will bring the crowds to the races and more TV money for Bernie. Even have night races for those who want to. More jobs more money more F1.

I think they should allowed anything from 1 to 3 or 4 cars. Allowing 1 car would help a lot teams enter the sport at a lower cost. Perhaps even low different sponsors for each car, again to help teams on a low budget and new teams enter the sport. I'd imagine you would get more money for two separate sponsors or get more companies interested in the lower cost of sponsoring a single car only.

great idea, at last someone is talking sense. however all 4 cars would have to be prohibited fron scoring in constructors championship, maybe only the top 2 should score. another improvement would be the providing of drivers and constructors points down to 15 or 20 place, as per champ/indy car and other formulae. this would help the struggling teams who sometimes are more consistent than mid field teams

Nice idea, but will prolly never take off. Teams will want to run at least 2 cars with diff sponsors, Toyota will prolly want to run 2 as Lexus', others will gripe about points, etc etc.

The customer cars was a good idea & just Williams got that shot down, so getting a solution that all the teams agree to will be almost impossible.

It would / could be the prefect cost cutting solution as running 2 extra cars will prolly only cost 20% more budget & teams could get more sponsorship ... plus we could see up to 40 cars again ... but I doubt it will get much past this article.
