Massa completes pole hat-trick.

Massa completes pole hat-trick.

Felipe Massa put himself in the driving seat for a third straight Turkish Grand Prix victory after claiming pole position in a hard-fought qualifying session at Istanbul Park.

Fantastic result for Massa, but Kimi wasn't anywhere near as quick. We saw him being blocked by Alonso and if that was on his last lap, that would explain the difference and point towards a Ferrari 1-2 again tomorrow and a 5 place penalty for the Spaniard. The McLarens were quite close and with Hamilton staying on the harder tyres might mean he'll be there or there about for tomorrow, but I guess we'll see

Kovalainen obviously not fazed by his Barcelona shunt and a great qualifying session with a front row start - I would like to see him back that up with a maiden victory, but I'd be surprised if Massa doesn't win it.

Again, kovy faster than Shamilton! But Massa's the man in Istanbul, just a shame Kimi got blocked by the Renault on his final run otherwise Ferrari would of locked out the front row again, makes Kimi's job of beating the Mclarens much harder, it might take 2 stints before Kimi is past both Mclarens and by then Massa's long gone!

Nice to see both McLarens splitting the Ferraris. Pity the BMWs couldnt quite get there (I'm hoping Kubica can get Raikkonen on the run to turn 1!) Should be an interesting race.

Oh...does anyone know if Kimi was on a fast lap or slow down lap when Alonso held him up?

He was on a fast lap. The holdup not withstanding, he said he made an error on the final turn and couldn't get the speed up.
He normally goes a couple of laps heavier than the other front runners. Here's what I hope happens at the start tomorrow - Kovy jumps Massa, and Raikkonen jumps Hamilton. If that happens, then the frontrunners will stay pretty close till the first round of pits. If not, then Massa will gradually pull away while KR is stuck behind the Mclarens, and the race will be over before it began.

As Ghost just said, Kimi does usually run on longer, and im expecting he will be ahead of one Mclaren by turn 2, and then he will get the other Mclaren in the 3 laps extra he will have in the tank.

If GP2 (and Adrian Sutils first lap record) is anything to go by, Safety Car for accident in Turn 1, which could lead to an interesting strategy.
