McLaren CEO Martin Whitmarsh has lauded Heikki Kovalainen for the way he bounced back from his high-speed shunt in Barcelona two weeks ago, even if the Finn was unable to produce the result he was hoping for in Turkey.
well the fastest laps classification does not confirm that. he was only 8th fastest.

usual mclaren hyperbole after the race, hamilton couldnt do the fastest lap although he was laping with very low fuel load, i dont know how kova would have meet the pace of ferrari drivers with the similar fuel load, and if im not wrong he was back of the kubica just after the first corner, so there was no chance for Kova to win.
anyhow isnt this the same man (Whitmarsh) last year was saying mclaren will make 0,2-0,3sec gain per race by in season developement. it seems that mclaren stuff love to dream. actually facts are very different from their dreams.

i think that mclaren and lulu are on a mission to get as much publicity as they can to divert attention from their fiasco last year. thankfully kovi seems to distance himself from all the hyperbole. he probably would not have won but he would have been well into the points.
^ Yeah, when you think about it like that they kinda suck.

Heikki, seems like a nice guy but no luck. Hopefully will do well at Monaco

isnt it a good thing for the ceo to be behind his drivers even if what he is saying isn't exactly correct ?

This story highlights the fact that F1 needs more than one tire supplier. Ridiculous rules such as using both tire compounds make a mockery and clearly show F1 pandering to Ferrari and Bernie's wishes, pushing aside what's best for the sport.

Considering that he was passed by LH at the start Heikki would have needed a few retirements to have won.
not many people are seeing the bigger picture. at the start of the season everyone thought heikki would play rear-gunner and not make any friends. it seems now that whitmarsh likes heikki better and the only way heikki could have won for mclaren that day is if hamilton knew he was in for a bad day and the team decided he would play number 2. shame kovy got a puncture, eh! watch out for kovy in monaco and canada. mclaren should be quicker there and in case no one has noticed, kovy is winning in qualifying, 3-2. if heikki qualifys ahead of lewis in monaco, he'll win.

What he should say is, "Had Heikki not moved over to let our goldenboy Lewis through then cut across the track to block Kimi, who knows how he would have finished."
Photo Tim.... boo hoo. Have you ever watched a F1 start? Lewis was lighter and on a three stop. Hekki at the start was heavier and on a two stop. He was not concerned about the move or he would have said so. It was the plan to let Lewis jump Ferrari at the start.

Photo tim why did Kimi pull out the way to let 2 cars through then. You are so sad they were on the slow side of the track. Please start watching F1 before commenting next time please.

Hekki has lost alot of points at monaco, spain and in turkey, none really down to him.
its a shame. as he really is a title contender as much as his team is. esp doing the business in qualy, turkey and spain he had more fuel on than lewis, very good showings.

Photo tim... your conspiracy theories make me laugh. Have you built your underground bunker yet in preparation for when the government drop the nuke on you???
