People paying him all this money, and yet according to the most prolific posters on this site he is a sh ite driver. How can this be?

Hmm, yeah i,m jealous too. He,s a F1 driver and gets millions for it!I would be happy if i could be a F1 driver and just earn enough money for food and my bills! And a vacation to a tropical island at the end of the year! Just to relax after a full year of bull****, politics and press of F1!

If the sponsors want to throw money at Lewis, good luck to him.
I just hope he does what M Schumacher does, gives a bundle of money to the needy.

Michael Schumacher is so generous, he won't give one penny to his poor grandmother.
And yet somehow he needs to live in a castle surrounded by excess? How sweet.
People forget his generosity, is only relative to his INCOME.
Schumacher (just on yearly income) earns 1166 times more, per year, than an average person with a good wage - £30,000 pa.
If you make a £200 donation to a charity. It equates to Schumacher making $466,800 donation by Schumacher.
If you make a £500 donation to a charity. It equates to Schumacher making $1.16 million donation by Schumacher.
Do you honestly believe, it is 'ultra' rare for someone to raise £200 for charity?
I do, and I'm unemployed!

Michael donated $10 million for the Tsunami relief fund, that is not small change...and he donates his time and belongings for various charities, the simple fact is he is inclined to help people

Jack I think most of Lewis' critics respect his skill and admit so. Typically the comments seem to more about what he says than how he drives. Too bad England is not getting their cut now that he lives in a tax haven.
"fools and their money are easily parted" maybe he is getting sponsorship from a yoyo manufacturer after his dangling on the end of a string. he should pay his proper taxes in his home country

In respect of the tax haven comments then surely each and every F1 driver should do the same? I think you'll find that most drivers live in tax havens so let's not just have this said in regards to Lewis..what about Jenson and DC in terms of the uk? What about all the others where the tax on high earners is even heavier?
The money spoken of is insane in most peoples eyes, mine included. Do they deserve it? Probably not but if they don't get it then it's more money for other people in the game and they are even more loaded. Dream come true for Lewis and i bet if we had the chance we'd all take it....then people would be questioning how philanthropic we are

Grumpy Doctor A cogent argument well put. I'd go further and say his income maybe >1000 times average, but his didsposable income - ie the money he has choice over what to spend money on, once his eaten, paid for travel, housing cost - is many times higher still.
Same with anyone on ridiculously high earnings.

Well said Cubik. Lewis is far from the first high earner in the UK to move to a tax heaven. They are ALL at it. And you would too Ralf if you were making that kind of money...
@Ben, I don't doubt what MS does for charity. But I think you will find a lot of rich and famous do the same, it's just not well publicized. Probably for good reasons.
