Hamilton gets grid penalty for Canadian shunt.

Sort Comments:

Hamilton handed French GP grid penalty.

Both Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg will have to begin the French Grand Prix in a fortnight's time ten places lower on the starting grid, dealing a hefty blow to the former's world championship chances.

lulu - don't despair you'll be closer to me when starting from the gird. This way you'll have another chance to hump somebody (hope it's not me).

I think it won't stop him at all he is a very confident and aggressive overtaker so it will not stop from getting a good result at Magna Cours in two weeks. Just look at his performance in the GP2 race in Turkey back in 2006.

That was GP2 this is F1! In case you forgotten Shamilton couldn't overtake Fisichella's Force India at Bahrain for many laps.

I think the result of this penalty will fire LH up as he is hugely motivated anyway.

It wont be long though until people start asking why LH and NR have had a penalty when KR got away with his collision at Monaco.

But then again a Red light does mean stop........

While KR did lose control at monaco.

Of course I have not forgotten that I think he has the ability to do it regardless of the formulae he is in. I agree with mph that this will fire up to do well in Magny Cours so expect some fire works.

But then again a bit of rain could liven things up again Hope so I normally find the French GP a bit boring.

And there is always the Adelaide hairpin that normally causes a few casualties.

Those guys at McLaren make it rally hard to have any respact for them. Now they compare this RED LIGHT incident with racing incident what happened in Monaco to Kimi. Phui ... old ladies talk.

Dave, Kimi didn't see a car basically stopping in front of him at monaco and the car is bigger than a red light. Another Fanboy I guess. Nico also did the same thing. What, no hate for those guys. Fanboys will always be fanboys.

I know plenty of drivers who have gone through a Red Light and I am not talking about Race Drivers.

It is easy to be a critic sitting in an armchair and playing F1 on Playstation.

No George Lewis just had two cars stopped in front of him. Who cares about the light the cars were stopped. Then he swerves to take out Kimi instead of Kubica...very sporting.

"aggressive overtaker", "fireworks" ... LOL, u LH fans arent doing him any favours now either! We all saw how aggressively LH tried to go OVER the parked Ferrari, & the fireworks it created.
In fact the FIA saw it too ... & they will be watching even closer now for any more 'aggressive overtaking' & 'fireworks' at Magny Cours & subsequent circuits, so Lewis would be best advised to tone it down & not take out any other cars, to obey the pit lane rules, & to clean up his act in general coz he's def not making many friends with his peers or the officials.

O well done to the people high up in F1 they have just shot themselfs in the foot again as its one rule for one and make them up as you go along for ferrari. How come Hamilton get a 10 place drop and Kimi get a pat on the back for doing the same thing and taking out one driver each. big pat on the back to them why not just give ferrari the title now and save all the driving.

Hellbender ... read the posts b4 shooting ur mouth off.
Kimi - happened on circuit - accident during racing - mistake snatching brakes
Lewis - accident in pitlane - not stopping for red light (hardly a mistake) - happened under safety car conditions

Plus
Kimi - 1st such incident
Lewis - Already been warned for causing prev incident under safety car conditions.

First just say that i not LH or KR or NR fan that clear anyone that compare the incidents on the last 2 races as the same don't have a clue of this sport. KR was a race incident wich can carry a penalty if it was consider dangerous driving but it wasn't.
LH and NR was a pit incident under safety car. Totally diferent circustances plus as is being pointed he was already under a previous warning.
All said a driver that in 7 races crashes twice at the back of other cars is just not what the officials want to see so i supouse that the penalty will be also a remainder that this kind of acction can carry severe consecuences.
Next race anything can happen he may even win who knows.

Lewis… you are not a sportif man…. When you lost control with your car in pit lane … you choice hit kimi from back … because kimi your close rival … so gap between you and kimi is not change … lewis keep ahead 3 point from kimi…. This case same with schumi hit damon hill …when schumi hit the wall… his car damaged then he hit DH… I think lewis have to be penalized for next race ….. lewis make a cheating …. Lewis you are a idiot driver and stupid driver….

The Kimi/Sutil and Lewis/Kimi incidents cant be directly compared. As has been mentioned Kimi/Sutil was a racing incident where the driver lost control under braking on a damp track and because Sutil had gone deep into the corner likely due to the same damp conditions the collision occured. Im not saying Sutil had any blame but there was not deemed to be any dangerous driving by KR. Furthermore, the stewards were already investigating Sutil prior to the collision due to his infiringment of overtaking 3 cars under yellow flags. After the crash there was no point penlising Sutil because he was out of the points anyway and no penalty for KR as no dangerous driving. LH/NR/KR crash was avoidable.

how can anyone compare driving into a stopped car at the end of pit lane with a ANYTHING that happens on the actual racetrack?

any references to kimi's accident at monaco are a joke. he lost control and crashed on the track. stopping at the end of pit lane if the light is red is a RULE.

having said that, i don't believe he chose to hit kimi's car over kubica's. he just tried to flick it left by reflex, locked up and went into kimi. there was no room on the right hand side anyway.
