Ecclestone-Mosley F1 war intensifies.

The battle brewing between long-time friends, allies and business associates Bernie Ecclestone and Max Mosley took a further step on Wednesday, following a meeting of the World Motor Sport Council (WMSC) in Paris.

The FIA will launch a consultation with the Formula 1 teams for the introduction of further fees to cover improved safety systems and equipment at every grand prix.'

I thought they'd already had a £50 million windfall ?!! there must be some of that left ...even after Ferrari have had a cut !!

Formula One no longer requires the FIA. We need to take the leap foward

The FIA wants more money to cover safety when they don't even have a GPDA member in their safety committee? Kimi went round the track with a loose piece of exhaust in France & the FIA did nothing. You call that a concern for safety? If that piece became undone & launched itself as a projectile, someone could have been injured seriously. Max claimed to be a graduate in Physics from Oxford but he seemed to have forgotten that F=ma. Someone could have died.

Revive F2? Why? we already have GP2, RWS as lower categories and the new superleague formula! The only thing I can see happening is GP2 being renamed and whats the point in that. Max should leave before he destroys the sport more!

The only reason I can see for this is that thanks to the stupidity of doing a deal for 100 years on the commercial right to F1
The FIA are attempting to raise funds elsewhere
A new series, upping the fees for a super licence, and on and on
Or is that just me being cynical?

what is the point of bring in a F2 series. Is this to happen in 2009 or 2010?

We alrady have GP2 and A1GP and the new serices linked to football teams which is supposed to be launched soon. What is the point of bringing in yet anohter formula.

The A1GP does its own thing and runs mainly through the European winter and GP2 is on the under card of Grand Prix so where would the new Formula 2 sit, in terms of venues.

Also there is the problem of attracting sponsorship when the credit crunch is making things hard for all sports.

There is also the problem of finding both an supplier for the cars and the engines

Its a head scratcher all right! A new feeder with a per car budget of less than what some spend a year on carting in europe?

The FIA soap box world championship...... coming to the top of a hill near you soon!

If you've seen the soap boxes some companies build, even they would threaten a 200k limit!

Bit concerned about the window for registering for next year. This is a repeat of the move MM made over the entries for 2008. These were launched with a tiny window before even the 2007 entries, to allow Max to force the teams into the new contracts.

Anyone wants to know what Max is really up to needs to read the SportsPro article from earlier this year (at sportspromedia dot com)

It's obvious F1 is slowly self-imploding. I may start watching GP2. I hear actual racing happens in that series.

Thanks ferret. Only problem is that here in the States, Speed plays GP2 at like 5 or 6AM. Us American non-TRASHCAR fans just can't get a break.

By the way, is it possible for Crash to get an actual separate forum/message Board? Unless it does exist and I'm blind and can't find the link...

The trouble for Max is that most teams, apart from Ferrari & Renault, only want to talk to Bernie. They don't want to go anywhere near Max.
