Fernando Alonso has dismissed any notion that his former McLaren-Mercedes team-mate Lewis Hamilton is making more mistakes in his second season of Formula One in 2008, insisting the young Briton has simply been ‘a little bit unlucky'.
What kind of drugs was Alonso on when he said that

Maybe crack? No in all seriousness why on earth would he have to be on drugs to say that? I didn't think he had a big problem with Lewis, it was more that McLaren favoured him in 2007 and Alonso paid a personal price. Nando's major problem was with Ron Dennis and the McLaren team wasn't it?

I think you're exactly right Johnny. The real story was with Fernando and the McLaren leadership. But the media was more interested in making it into a sensationalist driver vs. driver feud.

Whether FA got on with Ron last year is not in question. The topic is FA's view on LH's season so far and that FA thinks LH has been unlucky and lets face it, he's talking sh|t!! The majority of Lewis's points losses and mistakes this year have been of his own doing. His hot headed, red mist snippets of drives have shown that he is only human and that even a man of his obvious talent can malfunction now and then. He will get better and mistakes will become fewer. He proved his worth on Sunday and it seems that when he is out in front he is unstoppable!! I would like to have seen the outcome had Ferrari not made such a crazy tyre decision. Would'av been a good race between LH & KR.
Alonso was quite clever in the way he put his comment about LH. The bloke clearly wants a quiet life and doesn't even mind crawling up LH **** to avoid the press war. He's afraid to say it as it is. Keep it civil Fernando, you may even win some of your old fans back.
G Rider i dont think that s it, if there s one thing he cant care less about is media and political correctness. It s a fact the 2nd year s harder for LH. Now it s all eyesv on him. And yes, FA had a problem with MCLaren and RD, not with LH. Plus LH has made mistakes at tghe start of the year. last year he totally f d up in the last 2 races, where it matters most.
I have heard from reliable sources that Mclaren want to give fernando a test drive for next year, he will also be a reserve driver in case lewis is overbusy by PR commitment.
Good luck fefe alonso

I think Fernando knows how in F1 you need everything to go your way in order to be at the top.
Alonso himself knows how difficult your second season in a decent car can be - he himself struggled to match his 2003 performance in 2004.
I think despite all the problems with Fernando & Lewis last year there is still mutual respect for the other.

just when i thought he was showing some humility he goes and says, "but the duels were not equal." What?
Where is the proof that he was disadvantaged during his season at McL??? I'm sure towards the end of the season the FIA scrutineers where called into the McL garage to verify that both drivers where receiving equal support, and they reported that they were. So why does he keep crying "foul".
What he cant accept is NOT that he wasn't given equal treatment, its that he wasn't given PREFERENTIAL treatment in the team. He wanted to be No.1 driver and McL have a policy of not having a nominated No.1 driver. FA must have known that before he signed but he's still bleeting about it even now.
its quite well known that in the last 4 races fernando didnt have the free hand in set up and tactics, hence why he went from winning monza and beating lewis in spa. to being know where near the top 3 in the final 3 races. u just dont forget how to drive. Thats not a dig a at lewis, its mclaren. they did it to prost too, they more than likely did it to montoya. Believe what u want, its quite clear what happened there.
on the defence of lewis, which is correct: he actually said that about 2 weeks ago, but he also said he wasnt suprised by the mistakes. and crash used it at the time and said it was fernando slagging off lewis. no he wasnt, he was asked a question and answered with sense.

plus in terms of wanting preferential treatment, dont remember trulli, villeneuve and fisichella complaining. who have a 14 wins between them and 1 world title.
and the the person who said alonso seconnd season was tougher than his first, is absouletly right. so he has been there done that. so knows what he is on about.
shame alonso isnt in a good car, cos i think its clear him and lewis are the best and for F1 would be great to see them race on equal terms, hence different teams

The best thing that could happen next year is for Fernando to get the drive at Ferrari and for Ferrari to get their strategic act together to offer a serious challenge to Lewis and McLaren. As I always said, Fernando is the best driver on the grid by far and Lewis is extremely fast in the McLaren. Between them in competitive cars but different teams F1 would once again would offer an enjoyable spectacle. At the moment both Kimi and Felipe are suffering from moods and are not consistent. Both are not being helped by the lackluster performance of the pit strategists. Too many costly mistakes are being made. With FA and LH you can either love them, or hate them. It's a matter of opinion.

totally agree with brendan
hungary was a joke, LH disobeys orders and FA gets sanctioned. china, alonso is 6 tehnths slower than LH in q3, ahving been fastest all weekend and doing a flawless lap. RD even said the rival was Fernando There s your proof lex.
Last year was last year, and certainly McLaren have paid dearly for their foolhardiness in the mismanagement of the best two drivers in F1. They won nothing and got fined. We cannot blame Lewis for trying to win. The guy is consistently fast and he had the tools to win last year as well as this year. Last year Ron Dennis proved to be a moronic nepotist who lost the respect of a lot of F1 followers. The conflict was between Ron Dennis and Fernando both of whom lost in the end. Lewis did not lose anything. He was a rookie, he proved that he's fast and he finished 2nd overall. As I said above (post signed Max) Fernando has always been the better overall driver on the grid.

Chu Chu,by my reckoning you have now made this same comment 27 times and still nobody believes you! This isn't proof it's your personal slant on the situation, there is a big difference!

Ellen, you ve lost all credibility and shown your true kindergarten dictator colours by calling everyone who disagrees u "losers"
you re the ultimate fanboy (or fangirl, doesnt really ake a difference)
chu chu - Yes Hamilton did not follow team orders and was out of order for that, but Alonso got the penalty for deliberately delaying another driver (his team mate) in the pits. One does not equal the other. The penalty applied to Alonso was correct. Whether you feel it to be fair is a personal, subjective judgement.
Sadly Chu Chu the person who made that comment overnight was not me but presumably was the same person who was playing games over the weekend.Sad but the truth.Morgan has hit the nail on the head regarding this story.

...must shift focus to Lewis, (got lapped) ...must shift focus to Lewis, (out qualified by Piquet) ...must shift focus to Lewis (passed on track by Piquet).
Fernando will never take responsibility for anything. He is the best driver in his own mind, damn the evidence.

i hear u Morgan, but alonso got to do his last lap just 0.3 secs before the time ran out. i doubt the guy can be so precise. he d had wrong tyres fitted in his last try at q3 before, so it was understandable he didnt go straight away
also, if mc laren did no wrong and alonso was a spoilt kid like many say, also responsible for the ferrari scandal (he was accused of that too) how come he was let go just like that?
