Hamilton saddened by Alonso relationship.

Hamilton saddened by Alonso relationship.

Lewis Hamilton has admitted that he was ‘sad and disappointed' that he and former McLaren-Mercedes team-mate Fernando Alonso were never able to see eye-to-eye last year.

Throughout history a lot of the greatest sporting rivalries are built out of a healthy dislike between two major protaganists - Prost v Senna, Rainey v Schwantz, Johnson v Greene. It spurs them on to be even better. I think we were treated to a classic season last year made better by the fact that two superb drivers in the same team were clearly not fond of each other. Kimi coming through to win it because they took points off each other was the icing on the cake as far as the story goes - but any of the three richly deserved the title last year.

We might not see a similar situation arise for a while, so sorry they didn't get on but cheers Lewis and Fernando for great entertainment.

liar he should have treated Fernando a lot better than he did then they might have got on if Fernando was shown the level of respect he deserved from both Hamilton and the mclaren team

I don't understand this "have treated Fernando a lot better than he did" rubbish. Both were going for the championship all the way and friction was the likely by product. Their relationship was always going to be frosty

Before you accuse me of being a Hamilton fanboy I'll just say that I think Alonso is the best driver overall on the grid - and I've been thinking that from 2003 onwards.

He should have treated the master better by letting him win? He should have said nothing when cheating Alonso blocks his own team mate in the pits to ruin his qualifying?

Hamilton beat the master in his first year of trying!

Get over it Alonso fans, your master was well and truly taught a lesson by the pupil.

Alonso is good, but he is no Michael Schumacher...

The main problem was that Lewis and McLaren rated Fernandochoke Alooser far better than he is. F A couldn't handle not being as good a he thought he was and alienated the profsessionals at McLaren.
He and his deluded fans should pick up their rattles and go back to sucking their dummies
Get real guys there's a new kid on the block and he is better, let him get on with driving and racing instead of all the silly media and hype games

I'm no Alonso fan, but lets not forget that it was Hamilton who started all the rubbish at Hungary with the fuel burn fiasco, because as he's publically stated "the team didn't give me a good enough reason to let Alonso past", Hamilton broke the agreement for short term gain, his comments about being "saddened" are purely hypocritical, no more no less.
Last season he was bleating about being number 2 "I'm the number two, it says so on my car" This season, he's at great pains to point out that he's number 1 over Heikki, anything Hamilton says should be taken with a large bucket of Saxa.

Funny that only a few months ago FA was showing LH "how not to behave" now it's the other way around, Ragged Edge:Lying Hypocrite., totally on the button and Chu Chu is quite right in that RD was more culpable then any other, failing in his duty to manage.

No surprise I suppose that LH is still spouting nonsense, the boy won't ever learn, anymore then last season blowing a 17-point lead with three to go.

Look, it is obvious, like someone said in an earlier post, that they both where going for the championship and that there was going to be friction between the two. I seem to remember that many of the problems started in Bahrain when strangely a light fixture (weighting 100 pounds) fell on Alonso's car. Then in Monaco, Lewis Hamilton complained that the team did no let him pass alonso in Monaco (Common your team is 1-2 in Monaco and you are going to risk a pass in the most difficult circuit to pass when you have the 1-2 locked up?). I remember that the FIA started a ridiculous investigation (something to do with the British media i think) on McLaren to see if there where team orders or something like that. So the problems did not start in Hungary like this article says. I think Hamilton got very greedy because of his early success. That overambition caused him to loose the championship (Brazil 07 should have been a cake walk, his attempted pass on Alonso was completely unnecessary, he had the championship in his grasp but his overambition blinded him). Has anybody wonder about Heiki's luck recently. It is obvious McLaren (British team) is going to favor a British driver just the same that a Spanish team would favor a Spanish driver.

well done andrew, to the point there is far to much crap posted by people who are just voicing off and then all the hasmilton haters jump in it's time everyone just let it go as said in previous threads team mates are the worse rivals of anyone on the f1 grid

Right on Starman. Did'nt know about the light fixture in Bahrain though, will have to look that one up. And, Barry, the only reason us Hammy-Haters jumped in is because Lewis contradicted himself. And no, it was not an "innocent mistake" on Lulu's part as I am sure you are going to claim.

"It would be great if, in the future, someone is in the same position and looks at me and thinks, 'that is how to be world champion'."

Here he goes putting the cart before the horse again. What exactly does he think they would want to emulate, his motor mouth?

Alonso is certainly no Schumacher - he has never, to the best of my knowledge rammed a competitor off the circuit to win (although maybe La Source last year came close). The rest of the comments from both sides of the fence are mostly bo11ox...
