Fernando Alonso has elected to put a frustrating German Grand Prix this weekend behind him and focus on moving on to the next race on the 2008 Formula 1 World Championship calendar in Hungary in a fortnight's time.
I don't get people - if Alonso outperforms Nelson consistently, everyone turns on Nelson saying he's rubbish. If Nelson for any reason does do well and outperforms Alonso, everyone turns of Alonso pointing the finger of humiliation.
Neither of them can win...least of all Alonso who is understandably frustrated for many reasons: not least of all when people aren't recognising why Nelson finished second and Fernando finished 11th - ie strategy + safety car because Nelson started 17th and had that luxury that Alonso didnt qualifying 5th.
Media infuriate me.

i totally agree with you he had to drive a totally different race, it would have been nice of him to congratulate his team mate on his maden podium finish though
it just didnt fall fernando way today, he must of done an extra few miles always trying to go round the outside of people lol. he seems to be on the recieving end of some abuse lately on other threads for no reason, usually threads about the race winner which has nothing to do with fernando. and is rather silly.
well done nelson thats great for the team, yeah he had some luck but he grabbed it with both hands!! hopefully fernando can pull it off soon, he is trying hard enough!
Good luck renault at hungry! lets grab 4th

barry, that's the thing - he did congratulate nelson on spanish telly. Why does he need to show it off to journalists? Next people would be calling him insincere and that he's only being nice for effect!
The bottom line is that Fernando Alonso can do no right - especially by the british press.

pasta obviously you are spanish if you watched it on spanish tv but why cant alonso congratulate him in his statement for the worldwide press when he did his interview that crash has published on this site that is like saying you should not comment on any drivers statements because they may have said it at a later time
Barry.... If all the information is there but you can't resist the temptation to pass comment on the basis of incomplete data, just who's responsibility is that? Is it the media for not spoon feeding you or you for not looking before you knock?
Pasta's point is pertinent and only one of media frustration, i.e: Is it the issue that FA failed to congratulate Nelson or that the media failed to report it on this occasion, casting one's mind back FA was always one to congratulate both team-mates and competitors. Anyway how would one know if FA wasn't effusively congratulatory with Nelson at the debriefing?

jr or pasta or who ever else you are going to claim to be register with the site because you sound both the same to me
You all should know that piquet got that podium with a bit of luck ie safety car and Fernando didn't so i don't see why everyone is praising Nelson *******Piquet because he did nothing on his on merit and at least Fernando is nice enough to congratulate him because he could have just gone off in a mood but he didn't so that must count for something

Well done Nelson. He did a great job. Imagine his pressure on leading a Grand Prix even under such circumstances. Maybe that will do a hell of good to him, although not certain. It seems that the strategy of Renault to get him out so late on Q1, that costed him a better grid position, made the 1 stop strategy necessary.
As for the debate regarding Alonso, his latest comments are for sure an insult to the team. Latest being "hopefully my luck will not change in Hungary". Back in 1991 Ferrari sucked Alain Prost on comments much milder than these. Shows you the leadership of the current teams.
Well done Nelson Piquet. Looking for more.

Wasn't it Prost who compared his Ferrari to a truck?
Well Alonso isnt really keen on sticking with any team longer than a year. All he wants is to be plonked in a winning car and be on the podium of every race.
I can see Alonso without a drive soon.

alonso4ever (i cant believe i typed that name) here is what alosto said about his team mates win take a look at this link:
Good work Nelson. Of course he was extremely lucky, but did his part and the pressure for sure was really big given the circunstances (all comments regarding him all along the year). As for Alonso he's one of the best drivers if not the best and must be very disapointed bc his season is going terribly. The car is bad and he's unlucky but even so he could be doing better (how many mistakes so far?). I believe he's very frustrated and maybe fearing that could happen with him like many others who were champions but then couldn't repeat it after staying in inferior cars/teams (Hill,Villeneuve, etc)
