Fernando Alonso has claimed that his Formula 1 World Championship chances in 2008 are no worse at Renault than they would have been had he remained at McLaren-Mercedes for a second season – suggesting that the Woking-based outfit is entirely Lewis Hamilton-centric.
Had this winging little Spanish git stayed at McLaren he would have had as good a chance as his capability deserved. He caused untold trouble whilst at McLaren last year and they are well rid of him. Viva La Espana but not Alonso.

To be quite honest, i think Alonso wants to stop throwing his toys out of the pram... no hard feelings, yeah right... I wonder how long it will take until he gets upset with something at Renault and starts the whole show over again...

Dear old Fernando jointly wins the "lets stir things up a bit and justify my tantrums" and the "how I shot myself in the foot" awards yet again...
I do get a chuckle out of his ramblings, but it is a shame that someone so very talented continues to make himself look foolish, when nobody really cares anymore about last years controversy.

He is so right he wouldnt have a chance of winning because in an equal car to Lewis, Lewis would beat him everytime, he is 10x the driver Fernando is!!

Does sound a bit bitter doesn't he? As a double world champion, Alonso should be able to rise above all this and accept the challenge that Lewis posed, rather than whine that he wasn't been pampered 24/7.
Also, it amuses me when he says 'I'd rather be fifth or sixth with Renault rather than 4th with McLaren..' Well, since he has spent most of his year out of the points, perhaps the question should be 'Would you rather be 4th with McLaren or 9th or 10th with Renault..?'
Finally, I think I'd rather what Heikki thinks about Heikki's feelings in the team, rather than Alonso trying to replicate his frustrations through a man that seems to be enjoying his time at McLaren.

This is so sad. The guy just can't let it rest. Has to keep himself in the headlines somehow, anyhow, otherwise people may just forget about him altogether, which would really hurt his ego. You make your bed and you lie in it.
Just the other day, FA was saying that Renault is not winning because they were following the rules on engine development too closely. He mentioned that when he was at McLaren, he saw them improving the engine anyway they could. Now he's saying that he couldn't win at McLaren if he had stayed on. I think FA should learn to move on. He's a 2 times world champ, so he should be able to bring something into Renault in very much the same way Schumi did when he was at Ferrari. What is stopping him? He had hinted about moving on to another team e.g. Ferrari if things don't improve at Renault. Now he saying he doesn't mind being halfway down the ladder.

yes i must admit im getting a bit sick of hearing about all this every 4 -6 weeks it's getting really boring now, the only thing of any interest was what the reporter said towards the end about alonso more or less trying to blackmail ron with the threat of releasing info to the fia it just makes me wonder what he has on flavio at renault to keep piquet so far behind alonso or is it everyone running around alonso and piquet not getting any help from renault. That sounds familiar wonder who has been saying that lately?
I remember reading that one of the conditions FA imposed upon Renault in order for him to rejoin them end last year was that Renault get rid of HK as he doesn't want to be upstaged by another rookie.

powerline, i find it difficult to believe that any other team would be genuinely interested in alonso, apart from honda, who are desperate. i was never a fan of his, but he is not the worst and did win two WDCs. however, whether it is the medias fault or not,he does seem to be chopping and changing his story every few days. however, i agree that he would be best to stay at renault and try to improve the car.
This seems to be a ploy by the press to "stoke" things up abit with Fernando, given what happened at Hungary last year.
That said, Fernando's ALWAYS complained about his team, wherever he's driving at. Even when he was at Renault fighting for his 2nd championship title before joining McLaren, he claimed he didnt have the support of his team and often felt "alone". I recall something similar the year earlier. And that's abit rich, considering Fisi readily wanted to "help Alonso and Renault win" since Fisi had already blown his chances. Was Renault Fernando-centric then?
Alonso's an exceptionally good driver, but when under pressure, he tends to believe everyone's conspiring against him.

I just don't understand what Alonso is on about here. He knows absolutely 100% he would be winning races at McLaren this year - he's brilliant and so is this years McLaren. To say anything else is just ridiculous.
Him and Hamilton's in the same team were incredibly evenly matched as 2 of the 4 best drivers in the field (Kubica and Raikonnen being the other two at that level). They'd be fighting again for championship. He just doesn't like having a team mate who is equal to him as his ego won't allow it. A shame, because he is a brilliant, brilliant driver.
I still rate him as the most complete driver in the field, though not the fastest, but his comments are making him look silly.

Ask coulthard, montoya and prost they all say mclaren is the same. yet people call him a lier.
he is right, but sadly for him he is too honest or naive with the press and that goes against him big time.
anyway these are 3 stories put together from the last 2 months. just to make one set of fans get on anothers back. thats what crash.net do!
his skills are clear. touch paranoid, but with reason last season. mclaren are a 1 man team. have been since the mid 80s. why dont they just admit it. ferrari did...eventually!

Poor ol' Nando............ He seems to forget that it was HE who chose to join McLaren (amid great fanfare......) more than TWO years ago............ Why then, does he now keep regurgitating his year-old ennuie with the silver-arrows when it was HIS miscomfort which caused the parting of the ways............(how do you say in Spanish: "shome mistake shurely................?) If all he wants is a comfortable life, he should go and drive for MFI..............!!!

Fanny Alonso is a stupid little boy talking about McLaren, what he said was very embarrasing.Hamilton will in my humble opinion. Will surpass Shoey. If Alonso says that he is a better driver than Hamilton. What was he doing at Silverstone on a wet track?.The wet is a great leveller.
Has this guy forgotten that he has 2 titles already in the bag? Why is he so bitter? And to say that he has the same chance of winning the title with Renualt as McLaren this year is ridiculous. I wish he was a more dignified double champ.
