Lewis: We knew we had to improve – we have.

Lewis: We had to improve – and we have.

Lewis Hamilton has stated that McLaren-Mercedes knew it needed to raise its game in the wake of two consecutive races in which arch-rivals Ferrari had yielded the upper hand – and in storming to pole position for this weekend's Belgian Grand Prix at Spa-Francorchamps, he showed that the team has been every bit as good as its word.

Yes lulu you have improved. The only problem, I suppose, is that Ferrari is set up for wet whereas your team is chancing on a dry set up. Will Britney be watching?

to ferdi...i didn't hear massa say anything other than he didn't think he could have done anything today to keep up with hamilton. anyways with your expert knowledge i'm surprised you dont make a few quid out of it as i'm sure there are many a F1 team desperate to sign up the most talent and intellectual people going!?

Fernando Alfonso, how do you know that Ferrari is set up for the wet mate?? i hope so because Massa's lap was good but a bit slow. Anything could happen come tomorrow though so lets wait and see

Ryan - compare the times from free practice morning session and afternoon session (of course this is all supposition but I don't think I'm going out on the limb too much) to today's qualifying. Why would they (the Ferrari that is) be going backward? I guess you could say the drivers are slower or is it a set up? I'm inclined to think the latter. Also if you compare the time sheets from Q2 to Q3 the time difference for lulu is 1.27, for cupid doll 1.28 and for Kimi the difference is 2.24. Do you suppose Kimi is filled a bit heavier, I do. Having said that tomorrow will tell.

Fernando also another point to take into consideration is the fact thaty in valencia lewis was fueled heavier than massa so was heavier at the start of the race that is probably why he got the jump on him at the start and this time they are both on the same fuel stratagies and not the case of previously massa running a couple of laps shorter, at the end of the day massa going off his track record in f1 is totally unreliable and i really do hope kimi is heavier which i think to be true.

fernando as far as free practice morning session and afternoon session goes it does not mean anything it is not even a remote indication of how the two teams are performing its all just speculation.

If Hamilton fluffs the start like Bahrain, then Massa will disappear into the distance. Even if they are level by the hairpin, a tiny bit of rubbing could end both their races - hope its doesnt, but the first corner could be the last for someones race on Sunday.

Sharla82 i dont think lewis is going to fluff the start massa was lucky he was lighter on fuel in alot of the cases and that is why lewis is not bothered by his comments. You say a little bit of rubbing could end both races i agree but then agaim lewis is 6 points ahead so who is going to gain kimi (maybe), the first corner is always the most dangerous as they are all bunched up. Me i think it will be massa or he will cause it as he is out of his class at the moment. (i look forward to the negative comments/disagrees

@schumi - Massa wasn't much lighter - lulu pitted one lap later. I still think Mac is set up bit differently and Kimi will go 4 to 5 laps deeper than lulu or Massa. I'm putting my money on Ferraris to finish one and two.

fernando yes he did pit one lap later but mclaren did say they broughrt him in early by a couple of laps. massa has always looked good on a light fuel load by a couple of laps i reckon though lulu (youre words) was good for a good stint and i think tomorrow he will really hammer it home to massa after all he has only been good at the last too gp's and kimi is going to wreck his year i think if ferrari let him. Mind you team orders are against the rules of the FIA (or are they i suppose it depends what team you drive for). In the end i hope the best that deserves it fairly win's the championship.

Excuse me Schumi, Heikki Kovalainen just moved out of Hamiltons way on the Hangar Straight at Silverstone this year, blatant team orders much? No penalty?.. enough said i think
