Lewis Hamilton has stated his belief that he ‘morally deserves' to win the 2008 Formula 1 World Drivers' Championship – as Bernie Ecclestone has similarly backed the British star to lift the laurels at season's end.
I am Sorry, as a Brit I am wondering....... is it me or is Lewis Hamilton turning into a Stuck up Prick, who thinks he is better than everyone else???

WTF? You (morally) _deserve_ the championship? And you wonder why people don't like you? Newsflash: you don't _deserve_ anything. Shut your mouth and do your job.
******.

I think that the fact that these quotes came from 'The Sun' newspaper(?) says it all really. Who believes anything they read in there?
(Sorry you lot obviously do)

I whole heartedly agree Shirley I wouldn't even believe the date on the top of the page of the sun without checking it against a more reliable source
if what we read is true and shirley may well be right. but if he did say that its a bit silly. because it will make him look stupid if he doesnt win it. he says he isny distracted into doing silly things, what happened on saturday then?
i wish he would stick to the driving as he is a superb pilot. and all this just makes people want him to lose. its hard saying that about another brit.
but ah well, hopefully it will fire up massa some more. i think lewis must win this title because i think it could become much tougher from here, esp if bmw do up their game next term. with either Kubica or alonso. or both.

Sorry, My mistake. What I meant was that the 'Morally Deserves' quote came from the Sun, the rest is just a mish-mash of quotes, probably taken out of context. Probably just put together by Crash.net specifically to lower the level of debate and comment on these pages and again to cause a 'Hamilton versus the rest' spike in the number of 'hits'.
Hamilton has been the driver of the year and does deserve it!!

"Morally, I think I deserve the title and I'll do everything in my power to win it. There are four races left and they are all long hauls which I love. I'll be ready."
Did any of you hammie bashers actually read that?? Too quick just to have a pop! Morally, he deserved to leave belgium with 10 points, i think thats the point he's making. If it comes down to loosing by a few points because of the spa penalty then yes, Morally he deserves the championship.
Shirley you got it spot on with your last comment!
I'm now going to put on my flame proof suit and wait for all the lewis haters to react.
WOW....... so many haters, hehehehe Of course he deserves the championship. Please tell me who else in F1 overtakes??????? No-one springs to mind, but Hamilton at least has the balls to overtake, like no body else. Massa??? what overtaking has he done,oh sorry, hungary at the first corner, thats it. Raikkonen??????? hes overtakes in pit stops not on track. Kubica?????????? who has he overtaken, eeeerrrmmm no-one Now Hamilton, in every grand prix, charges and overtakes most people. If it wasn't for Hamilton F1 would be dead. After Monza only 7 people came on here, whereas after Spa over 500 people left comments. I think that says a lot about who should be the leader of F1.

This article is like a "best of"... I do hope you're right about quotes being cut up and taken out of context because otherwise this makes him sound more or less insane.
He and Kimi are quite similar in a way - they're both better at racing than they are at talking.

And for the record, the statistically (yes, it's true!) most active and successful overtaker in F1 today is Nick Heidfeld.

He really doesn't do himself any favours with comments like "Fuji - you know what I'm like there".
Being British I'd like to see him win, but part of me hopes Massa stuffs him in the remaining four races...

No Driver deserves the title, just like no team deserves the constructors championship.
Its is decided on points and there are no morrals in F1. The driver who has been the most consistent and at times been lucky will simply win the championship end of story.
Lewis needs to get himself a good manager/PR Guru who will water his ***** comments down a bit. Take a look at how Vettel handled himself on sunday and after in the press then lewis might learn something if his ego allows it.

And why does Massa not dererve the title?
He is 1 point behind LH and after all he has won more races the LH.
He does his talking on the track, not in the media.

I also believe I deserve the crown. Or, better, I don't care about the championship, but I really do believe I deserve to make 15 million / year.

I am speechless now, where did this guy come from?!!!!!! Please.......
I just want to say, this interview was done by The Sun. The crappest newspaper in the UK. Everything they write should be taken with a bucket of salt and I wouldn't be surprised if what they printed was not what was said. Or comments were selective.
The Sun + Crash = bull**** reporting. Worst combination ever.

Hamilton is good but says stupid things. I'm british and not having seen a half decent brit in f1 since Hill - who was good for one season - I'd love to get behind a brit but all his comment make me dislike him more.
Someone said 'If it wasn't for Hamilton F1 would be dead' what a load of rubbish, there has not been this number of young up and coming drivers with loads of potential in so long - vettel, rosberg, kubica, glock (piquet's dissapointing, hopefully more to come).
My point is hamilton's nothing special he's just been lucky enough to be ron's favourite!
