Sébastien Buemi will make his Formula 1 racing debut with Scuderia Toro Rosso in 2009, the Faenza-based outfit's team principal Franz Tost has confided.
So Bruno Senna beats Buemi in the GP2 series and Buemi gets the drive! - eh?
I hope that Bruno now signs for a top line team (BMW!) and kicks STR's **** next year.

Can't say that Buemi has impressed me at all. OK, so he has won races in GP2 (usually on a Sunday) but he has also disappeared on the formation lap more than once. Am not a Bourdais fan by any stretch, but think that he deserves another shot now that he's got a season under his belt.

thats pretty bad news really for str, buemi hasnt really set the world alight at all in gp2, hes been a reasonable runner towards the front but nothing special at all, if i were tost/berger id be keeping bourdais, i know it doesnt mean the same but you dont become a 4 time champ car champion without being at least a fairly good driver, so id keep him and perhaps be looking if heidfeld comes available...

It'd be very disappointing if Bourdais lost his drive to Sato
The GP2 Champion is still looking around for a seat somewhere, maybe having to settle for a test spot or a return to Indycar, and the driver who only finished 6th in the standings is jumping straight into a F1 race seat?
Hope Bourdais keeps his seat and Pantano can get an F1 race drive somewhere.

I think Buemi and Senna are both worthy of the STR seat. Bear in mind, this was effectively Buemi's first season in GP2 and with the same team Senna started out with. Buemi did better than Senna in his first year - give him an iSport car next season and he'll probably be a favourite.
Even so, Senna should get STR seat this year, Buemi maybe in 2010 if Bourdais doesn't step up. Either way, it is nice to see up and coming drivers in F1 - when was the last time someone from Switzerland had a full-time F1 seat?

Whatever the lineup at the opening race, I predict it will be Sato and Bourdais driving at the end, Buemi hasn't proven much...

buemi is a red bull protege and has been on their screen for ages. berger has said that he wants an EXPERIENCED driver alongside a novice, so it is difficult to see bourdais filling that role, unless he continues to improve.
lol, i hope bourdais keeps his seat, he could of done so much at monza during the race. i was gutted for him.

I've got to agree with most posters here. If Bourdais does not get to keep his seat with the Faenzisti, it will be like throwing out the baby with the bathwater............!

I'm starting to like STR, well, everybody do after Monza. But if they throw Bourdais out, they'll loose what little "fanboyism" i'm develloping for them that is sure. Bourdais is not only improving, but was a little better than vettel in the old car. The new STR don't fit him at all. I rekon that next year cars may be very different for Bourdais, who won a little more than one race in a "low aerodynamics" (well when compared to an F1 car anyway)/slick shod car. But then, if the world was a perfect place, STR would not sign him, but a better team would see his potential and rescue him before he's gone. That is my opinion, and as the saying goes, everybody have a right to my opinion

dany, dont forget, several other teams gave him a test and found that he didnt come up to the mark. str was at the back of the field and through him a lifeline to f1. he hasnt repaid them yet!
Thank god for Red Bull! imagine what F1 would be like without them. STR is lucky to have them as partners and giving them access to new up and coming drivers they have nurtured. I think Bordais and Beumi would be a good pairing for them next season. As experienced as Sato is he has had his turn in F1 and didn't quite get there. The only reason they would sign him would be as a marketing ploy to get the Red Bull brand into the Japanese market. Good luck STR either way!
