Hamilton: I made a mistake and I paid for it.

Hamilton: I made a mistake and I paid for it.

Formula 1 World Championship leader Lewis Hamilton admitted after his disastrous Japanese Grand Prix today that he had ‘made a mistake and paid for it' – but he insisted he would be changing nothing in his seeming ‘win-or-bust' approach to the final two races of the campaign.

Lewis,
You must learn from your mistakes!
If you don't change you are not learning!

don't worry about it to much lewis because from where i was looking the stewards fcuked up again.coz on my reruns on the sky+ it was actually kovalienen who ran raikkonen of the road not you, raikkonen could have gotten round turn 1 if kovy hadn't been up alongside him forcing him off the track.but to keep massa in with a chance of winning the championship the crappy stewards had to penalise you as well as massa otherwise when massa did his penalty you would have been in front of him.
so imho the stewards once again have tried to determine the outcome of the race and the championship.

This Shamilton is a nothing driver, a liar without integrity and full of selfishness! How can anyone takes this joke's words seriously? Didn't he say he would be conservative? That start was a joke, yeah he didnt hit Kimi but thats because Kimi went way offline to avoid this idiot and subsequrntly lost a lot of places! All caused by this loser!

If Massa had any brain he would of had this title sewn up by now but we are going to see Shamilton take a useless F1 title and I hope he's happy with it cause this aint the same title won by Senna, Schumacher, prost, Mansell, and co. in the past.

LH did mess up seriously on T1... but massa knew what he would get when hitting the back wheel of LH like he did. look at the video again, and you will see that FM was aiming the back wheel, therefor aiming to make LH spin and start again as last (due to all the cars comming in)...he should of seriously gotten a 25sec penalty for the next race, not mentioning the bourdais issue, where FM saw him coming out, knew he had cold tires and that he also knew that he could of overtaken him easily 1 turn later if not in T1.
i think all this is BS...

Off the start line and into the first corner LH could easily have caused a major incident, perhaps serious injuries or death and all because he can't drive. Why was it not more serious? because every other driver took avoiding action.

Massa's incident was as bad as it could have been, as such innocuous and only deserved a minor penalty. Hamilton should have been banned for at least 3-races and docked 20 points!

Lewis. what an Idiot, someone should tell him that you do not win championships on the first lap of a race but you most certainly can lose them.. When is this guy going to learn racecraft. The sooner he realises this is formula 1 not GP2 the better. All he had to do was finish ahead of Massa. This win at all costs will cost him the championship again. I admire his driving ability but his racecraft ????

Let's face it, all the Lewis fans just will not agree that this was a school boy error from him. He messed up the start and in desperation to prove himself he threw caution to the wind, AGAIN, and risked taking himself and many other drivers out in the very first corner. He nearly took out his team mate, had Hiekki not skillfully got out of the situation, then sent drivers off the track because of his bull-headed, "I am" attitude.
Not one driver/team combination deserves the championship this year, especially not Lewis/Maclaren, closely followed by Massa/Ferrari.
Based on getting the best out of a car, Alonso is the man in 2008.

Just had another look after reading Herbert Clinkers comments - and he is right. LH There was fresh air between Lewis back wheel and Kimi's nose It was Kovy that was wheel to wheel with Kimi.
I'm not an expert on F1, only getting the bug over the last 4 years - but I was interested to watch it live. But I recall loads of incidents which have seen cars on the run off area at turn one. I'm not aware of other penalties being awarded. Have I missed something?

And another thing Lewis fans, Senna may have had the same attack attitude that Lewis obviously has, but I really can't remember Ayrton making rediculous mistakes of this nature in order to prove himself.
Good driver maybe, but Lewis will never be a Senna.

Damon Russell, surely for "getting the best out of a car", that should be a three-way tie: Alonso, Kubica, and Vettel.

You seen Alonso make a mistake this year?
Most complete driver witout a shadow, Alonso, then Vettel. Kubi has been off the boil a couple of times don't you think?

@damon russell did you not see senna hit the barrier just before the tunnel whilst leading the race at monaco (i can't remember the year).did you not see senna deliberately force alan prost off the track to win a world championship.
so senna did make mistakes and could be ruthless at times but he did not need the help of the stewards or the fia to help him win his championships he won his fairly and squarely.

as for senna being better than hamilton i'll reserve judgement on that until hamilton retires from f1.

Senna made some mistakes of course, I didn't say otherwise, but Lewis has made more in his first two years than Senna made in his career!!!!! End of.

 1 people agree.

Immature start by Hamilton (who will have to cool down or give the championship away), less than sporting behaviour from Massa and a great drive from Alonso (if it is possible to have a great drive nowadays in F1). Most predictably of course and in view of the race incidents, another shambolic performance by the race stewards.

The only other surprising thing is that Alison has "caught the F1 bug in the last 4 years". - That staggers me, I've got to the point where I question my sanity because I still get up in the morning to watch the stuffB25B!
