With just a week to go to the start of the 2005 Formula One season in Melbourne, the BMW Williams team turned one of Australia's best know landmarks into an F1 track as Mark Webber took part in a series of demonstration laps on Sydney Harbour Bridge.

With just a week to go to the start of the 2005 Formula One season in Melbourne, the BMW Williams team turned one of Australia's best know landmarks into an F1 track as Mark Webber took part in a series of demonstration laps on Sydney Harbour Bridge.

Webber, who will make his debut for the team in the race at Albert Park next week, completed a dozen crossings of the bridge in the event on Sunday morning, with Network 10 providing live TV coverage and thousands more spectators able to watch on a specially constructed video screen.

"Thundering with 900bhp over that time-honoured structure was an amazing feeling,” Webber said afterwards. “The engine sound over the ocean was fantastic. I just can't thank everybody enough in my home state New South Wales who made this show for the fans possible."
