Ferrari resumed their winter test programme over the weekend, when test drivers - Luca Badoer and Marc Gene began testing at the Bahrain International Circuit, venue for the opening round of the 2006 FIA Formula One World Championship.

Ferrari resumed their winter test programme over the weekend, when test drivers - Luca Badoer and Marc Gene began testing at the Bahrain International Circuit, venue for the opening round of the 2006 FIA Formula One World Championship.

In total the Scuderia managed over 250 laps - more than 1300 kilometres, with Badoer quickest on day one, while Gene took the honours on Sunday, when occasional rain showers interrupted proceedings.

Badoer completed 47 laps on Saturday, before nearly doubling that on Sunday, when he clocked up a further 86, his best time a 1 minute 35.024 seconds. He was running in this year's car - the F2005, fitted with an engine modified to comply with the 2006 technical regulations.

Gene meanwhile ran in an F2004 - fitted with the Scuderia's new V8 power unit. He managed 62 laps on day one and 87 laps on day two, his best time - a 1m 34.807s.

Ferrari continue testing at the BIC on Monday.
