Mercedes boss, Norbert Haug has implied that reigning DTM champion, Gary Paffett will have a regular F1 test role with McLaren in 2006.

Mercedes boss, Norbert Haug has implied that reigning DTM champion, Gary Paffett will have a regular F1 test role with McLaren in 2006.

Speaking following Paffett's outing in the MP4-20B on Monday, at the Circuit de Catalunya in Spain, Haug said that the Englishman was 'integrated' into their 'development programme for the new season' - seemingly hinting that his second scheduled outing at Jerez on December 7 and 8 will be by no means his last.

"This test [at Catalunya] was not only a reward for Gary's DTM title win," said Haug.

"Gary is also integrated in our development programme for the new season.

"Our test team was satisfied with Gary's job on the first day of our preparation programme for the new season; he had a good start with the team."

A spokesperson for McLaren meanwhile, when contacted for clarification on the matter, told Crash.net that the Englishman has not officially signed a test deal with the team and that currently he is scheduled only to do two tests - namely this week's one at Barcelona and then next week's at Jerez.
