Ernesto Viso's acclimatisation run with Spyker M
F1 could also contain an important role, as the Venezuelan may be charged with evaluating different tyre options ahead of the Brazilian Grand Prix.
Viso is slated to make his F1 debut with the Silverstone-based team at Interlagos, but needs to complete the 300km necessary to qualify for the mandatory superlicence. This was to have been the focus of his run, at
Silverstone, tomorrow, but the team will also use the outing to run different tyre options ahead of the final round next weekend.
Viso has been at the team's HQ this week for a seat fitting and a run on its simulator, making final preparations both for his test, in which he is expected to share the track with former GP2 Series rival, and new
Renault tester,
Nelson Piquet Jr, and to familiarise himself with the twists and turns of the Interlagos circuit. The weather, however, is not something he was able to replicate.
"Everything points to the test being wet," Viso commented, with one eye on the grey skies over Silverstone this week, "That is something that will add greater emotion to the test, although we expect an improvement that will allow me to comply with the necessary number of kilometres. If the weather is right, the team, which arrived back from Japan yesterday [Monday], has told me we will be testing tyres."
Should Viso successfully qualify for his superlicence, he will become only the second Venezuelan in modern times to reach the heights of driving an F1 car, after Johnny Cecotto completed his switch from bikes to cars with a handful of seasons in the top flight in the early-mid Eighties.
