Ernesto Viso pronounced himself content with his day's work after making his grand prix weekend debut with Spyker M
F1 at Interlagos, the Venezuelan admitting he is now eyeing up a role within the team for 2007.
Following on from GP2 rival Alex Premat's debut in China, Viso got his chance to make a bow with the Dutch team after testing an F1 car for the first time at
Silverstone, just a few days before traveling to Brazil.
Nonetheless, despite his relative inexperience of both the car and the circuit, Viso proved 13th quickest in the morning, before dropping his time by three seconds in the afternoon to emerge 20th out of the 29 that set a time.
The first Venezuelan to appear in an F1 weekend since Johnny Cecotto in 1984, Viso has become one of the many drivers bargaining with Spyker about a seat alongside Christijan Albers for 2007, joining a list of candidates including current driver Tiago Monteiro,
Red Bull refugee Christian Klien, Colin Kolles protégé
Adrian Sutil and highly regarded Brit Gary Paffett.
Nonetheless, despite his respectable start, Viso claims he has more to give, pointing out it was only the second time he has ever driven an F1 car in anger and the first time he has ever driven at Interlagos. With that in mind he is eager for a chance to shine in next year.
“I was very excited to be at the Brazilian Grand Prix as a third driver especially with the Spyker MF1 Team and I think we did a good job," he claimed.
"It's basically my first ever time in F1 and at this track and I think we made a lot of good progress with the set-up and the tyre programme. I hope we can communicate over the winter and with some support maybe look at expanding my F1 experience next year.”
