Formula 1 » Brundle set to go walkabout at GPlive.

Friday, 27th April 2007

ITV F1's Martin Brundle will take a weekend away from his usual commentary duties at the inaugural GPlive event at Donington Park next month – but he will still be performing his now famous pre-race Formula 1 grid walk.

Following his retirement from grand prix activity, Martin was unable to get the racing bug out of his veins, and in 1997 moved into the ITV F1 commentary box alongside the legendary Murray Walker. Since the latter's retirement in 2001, the three-time RTS Television Sports Award Best Sports Pundit recipient has been joined in the booth by James Allen, with the duo's commentary being beamed worldwide to tens of millions of viewers. Brundle's own ‘Great Escapes' programmes were an instant hit too, attracting some nine million viewers on ITV.

Moreover, since 1998 Brundle has managed the career of David Coulthard and, in tandem with his former team-mate and close friend Mark Blundell, formed driver management company 2MB Sports Management to develop new British talent. One such rising star will be featured in a special photoshoot with Martin and the Tyrrell racer at GPlive – his son Alex, currently competing in the Formula Palmer Audi series.
