Red Bull Racing is finally ready to challenge for consistent podium places – that is the view of test-driver Michael Ammermuller, as the Milton Keynes-based squad gets set to return to the scene of its only rostrum to-date – Monaco.
A difficult start to the 2007 campaign was the catalyst for a major step forward before the Spanish Grand Prix, the first meeting of the European leg and fourth round on the 17-race calendar. The result was a competitive fifth-place finish for
David Coulthard in Barcelona, ahead of both works Renaults and not a million miles adrift of
Robert Kubica in the BMW-Sauber.
With the Scot having also come home third around the streets of Monte Carlo last year, leading GP2 ace Ammermuller believes Red Bull is now in a position to at last fulfil its potential – and that means regular rostrum appearances.
“They are getting better and better as the season goes on,” the German told
Crash.net during last weekend's nostalgic

Donington Park. “At the moment I would say we are the fourth-best team and now I think we can fight with
BMW.
“For sure now it will be a lot more difficult to develop that much again, but I think we will have a good chance to fight for podiums in some races.”
