Vitantonio Luizzi is 'confident' he can have a good race on Sunday after qualifying twelfth for the Monaco Grand Prix.
The Toro Rosso driver surprised many with his performance in qualifying and easily made it through to Q2. Although he was disappointed not to make it into the top-ten shoot-out and felt that he had lost some important running time on Saturday morning, he is still convinced he can deliver in the grand prix.
“A good qualifying, but not so good this morning, when a radiator problem meant I did not do many laps and here in Monaco it is very important to do a lot of kilometres. Q1 went perfectly though, but we could have done better in Q2,” he added.
“We made a set-up change to the front wing and that affected the handling at the rear which cost me some time, but I am confident I can have a good race tomorrow [Sunday].”
Scott Speed meanwhile didn't fare so well in the sister car and he will line-up 18th. The American blamed problems outside of his control for his failure to do better.
“Confusion in the pits cost me a lot today, as I got called onto the weighbridge and then ended up coming into the garage just before Tonio arrived in the pit-stop position,” he added. “On top of that, my brakes were on fire when I came onto the weighbridge. Just a bad day all round really.”
