Formula 1 » FIA verdict in on Hamilton...

Lewis Hamilton cleared by the FIA

Comment on this Story
The FIA has announced that Lewis Hamilton will not be punished following his supposed involvement in the accident that saw Sebastian Vettel put an end to both his own and Mark Webber's race behind the safety car in Japan last weekend.

Hamilton was accused of causing the collision between the Red Bull sister cars by driving 'erratically' behind the safety car.

The 22 year-old, who leads the World Championship by 12 points, ran the risk of losing the ten point buffer he gained in Fuji and suffering a grid place penalty or even exclusion from this weekend's race.

The FIA have also reduced Vettel's ten-place grid penalty to a reprimand.
