The
FIA,
Formula 1's governing body, has confirmed the calendar for the 2008 season, which will contain a floodlit night Grand Prix for the first time.
Although the latest calendar contains no changes to the provisional schedule released last month, it does finalise three events that had still to be officially confirmed as taking place, with the Canadian GP in Montreal being provisional and the races in Valencia and Singapore being subject to circuit approval.
It has now however been confirmed that the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve will play host to the Canadian event in June, while Valencia in August and Singapore in September can both look forward to hosting
F1 for the first time – with the new calendar officially confirming Singapore as a night race.
Italian-based Valerio Maioli SpA has already signed a letter on intered with Singapore GP Pte Ltd to design and construct the necessary lighting system to illuminate the event.
