Singapore will, this year, become Formula One's first ever night race, while Malaysia's Sepang circuit has said that it would not be opposed to following suit in order to retain a spot on the calendar.

American race series have long held races under floodlights, with NASCAR, IndyCar and Champ Car all having staged night races in recent seasons - while the MotoGP staged its first race under lights just this weekend, with a successful debut event at the Losail circuit in Qatar.
