Formula 1 » Rosberg: We will come back stronger.

Tuesday, 1st April 2008

Nico, Williams out to put Malaysian nightmare behind them.

Nico Rosberg is confident that Williams will be able to bounce back this weekend in Bahrain after a disappointing showing in Malaysia.

Indeed the Sepang event two weeks ago was pretty disastrous for Nico and his team-mate, Kazuki Nakajima and with both finishing way down the order it was in stark contrast to how things went in Melbourne the week before, when both drivers' were in the points - and Nico was on the podium.

Now though the Grove-based outfit will be keen to show round two was just a glitch and add to the nine points already on the board.

"I'm really looking forward to this weekend," said Nico, who made his debut in F1 at the BIC in 2006, finishing seventh on his maiden outing, as well as setting the fastest lap in the race.

"Bahrain is one of my favourite tracks and I've had some great results there.

"Last year, we didn't get the best out of the weekend, but we've learnt from that and we'll be better this year, and we will come back stronger after the struggles in Malaysia.

"The track and asphalt surface of the Sakhir circuit are more suited to our car so we shouldn't encounter the same problems again.

"As a whole, it's been quite an extreme start to the season. We had a very strong start and then a bit of a down, but that's the way it is in racing and you just have to get on with it.

"We've already learnt a lot from the past two races and we will make progress going into these next few races."

Kazuki Nakajima echoed that assessment and like Nico he is fond of the Sakhir track, which cuts right through the desert and is one of the most unique and challenging venues on the schedule.

"We've had a bit of a mixed start to our season. The race in Melbourne was obviously very good, and then Malaysia was not so good for us," he continued.

"We've learnt lessons from both grand's prix however, and I'll be doing my best to help get the team back to where we think we should be.
