BMW test driver Marko Asmer will make his debut in the Euroseries 3000 this weekend with newcomers TP Formula.
The 23-year-old Estonian was hired by BMW Sauber this year after impressing the Hinwil and Munich based outfit in a testing shoot-out with other potential
F1 candidates.
Asmer had previously dominated the British F3 International Championship with Hitech Racing, wrapping up the title with three rounds to go and taking eleven victories on his way.
The Estonian will debut on track with the Traini-Pomozzi team in Vallelunga on Saturday, the opening meeting in the ten-round season.
"I'm happy to get the chance to race with TP Formula in Euroseries 3000," said the Estonian. "It's a competitive series and should complement my
Formula One testing duties with BMW Sauber F1 Team well.
"At the moment we have agreed to do the first race and are working on a budget for the remainder of the season. I'm looking forward to getting behind the wheel."
TP Formula co-owner Gianluca Pomozzi meanwhile welcomed the signing.
"I'm really pleased for the agreement reached with Marko, a very talented, professional and extremely motivated driver," said the Italian.
"We will start the season together in Vallelunga then we will both work hard in order to find the means to collaborate until the end of the season."
