Red Bull drinks company founder Dietrich Mateschitz has suggested Formula 1 teams should be permitted to field four cars in the light of the ban on ‘customer' entries in the top flight as of 2010.

The Austrian billionaire recently announced he had put his 50 per cent share in Scuderia Toro RossoRed Bull's second-string outfit – up for sale, but he has now revealed as an alternative option to this, he would be happy to continue running the cars should all four be allowed to race under the Red Bull Racing fold.

“My proposal is to allow four cars per team,” Mateschitz told Austrian newspaper Salzburger Nachrichten.

“If the regulations mean Toro Rosso can no longer utilise Red Bull technologies, then it makes no sense. We cannot build a second Milton Keynes in Faenza.”
