The Panasonic
Toyota Racing will benefit from 'quite a significant upgrade' to its package this weekend in Turkey, as it looks to extend its points scoring run from three races to four.
The Cologne-based operation currently has nine points on the board and is fifth in the constructors' championship, three points behind
Williams.
Speaking ahead of the event, the fifth round in the 2008
FIA F1 World Championship, senior chassis general manager, Pascal Vasselon added that ideally they want to see
Jarno Trulli and
Timo Glock both finish in the top eight.
"We go to Turkey with optimism because we have seen over the first four races that our car is competitive and able to challenge for the top six," he noted. "It was unfortunate that a mix-up cost Jarno sixth in Spain but it was encouraging to again be fighting in that position.
"We have another quite significant upgrade to the package which will be available and we expect this to bring a performance improvement.
"It is part of the same development process which resulted in the Barcelona upgrade. These improvements were not specifically planned for Turkey but this is the earliest opportunity to introduce them.
"So the goal for this weekend clearly has to be a strong points finish, hopefully with both cars."
Jarno Trulli is also convinced the team can get more points, although he knows it won't be easy, with the midfield so fiercely competitive.
"I have always enjoyed myself in Turkey so I am looking forward to this race. I am confident again because we showed in Spain that we are quite strong, but we also saw that we have to perform at our maximum if we are to get into the top six. The fight is so close that small variables can make a big difference to the end result so we must keep pushing hard," he added.
"We have been competitive on every circuit so far this season so we should expect to be qualifying in the top 10 and scoring points again.
"I am determined to get another positive result this weekend and I believe we are in a strong position to do that."
Timo Glock meanwhile, who has had a ninth and an eleventh place so far this year, will be gunning for his first points result with the TF108.
