"As the high mileage shows we had good reliability today and we completed our programme as planned," continued
Renault chief test engineer, Christian Silk. "This morning was spent getting Nelson used to the circuit as well as doing aero development on the car, which went well. Then, in the afternoon we did some work on R&D. Everything worked very nicely and so overall a good day's running for us."
Of the rest
Williams'
Kazuki Nakajima was ninth, while
Force India duo,
Adrian Sutil and
Giancarlo Fisichella came in tenth and eleventh respectively, with less than two hundredths between them.
"Both race drivers used the day for Monaco preparation working on general setup, tyre evaluation and getting another read on some of the development items that were started on the first day," reflected Force India chief race and test engineer, Dominic Harlow. "We had no major problems aside from a light rain shower at lunchtime."
Testing now concludes on Friday - but teams will switch to using a different longer version of the track to replicate some aspects of the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve, venue for the Canadian GP. At
Ferrari Felipe Massa will replace Raikkonen, while Pedro de la Rosa takes over from Kovalainen,
Nick Heidfeld from Kubica and Sebastien Buemi from DC. Trulli, Piquet and Button will all remain for
Toyota, Renault and
Honda respectively, while
STR and Force India will run both race drivers, with one in action in the morning and the other in the afternoon.
