Having shared the car with Sebastien Buemi on day one, Coulthard has the RB4 to himself on Friday as he evaluated new aerodynamic and mechanical components on the car.
"The day went well, providing some positive and interesting results," chief test engineer Ian Morgan said. "However, a minor technical problem sidelined the car around an hour before the end of the session. Apart from that, we worked through our programme and
Mark Webber takes over from David for the final day tomorrow."
Canadian Grand Prix winner
Robert Kubica completed his two days of running for
BMW Sauber as he continued to work on preparations for the French GP and was also able to do some development work for the team as he wracked up more than 100 laps, while
Honda race driver
Rubens Barrichello took over from the Brackley-based squad from the returning
Anthony Davidson. Barrichello was the final driver to lap within a second of the quickest time on the day.
Having given Romain Grosjean time at the wheel on day one,
Renault reverted to race driver Nelson Piquet for day two, with the young Brazilian completing nearly 130 laps focused on preparing for Magny-Cours.
It was a good day's work and, despite losing some time before lunch, I was able to do most of what we had planned, he said. We spent the day evaluating some new things that the team will use in France next week and that all went well. Another full day of running tomorrow should put us in good shape for next week.
Sebastien Bourdais rounded out the times for Toro Rosso as the team took to the track a day later than its rivals, with the Frenchman trying out a new aerodynamic package on the car which is undergoing evaluation ahead of his home race.
"We found the new package has a significant effect on the handling of the car," chief engineer Laurent Mekies. "We are still working to understand and improve it and this work will continue when Vettel takes over tomorrow."
