Ferrari's
Felipe Massa took his third win of the season at the French Grand Prix on Sunday - and in the process goes top in the battle for the 2008 drivers' title.
Massa trailed his team-mate and pole sitter
Kimi Raikkonen until around half distance, when the Finn lost time with an exhaust problem, and that allowed Felipe through to take the victory.
Kimi thus had to settle for the runners-up spot, 17.9 seconds adrift, while
Jarno Trulli held on to secure the final place on the podium, after a dramatic battle with
Heikki Kovalainen in the last 10 or so laps.
Robert Kubica completed the top five for
BMW Sauber, followed by
Red Bull Racing's
Mark Webber.
Renault's
Nelson Piquet Jr and
Fernando Alonso rounded out the points' finishers in seventh and eighth, the former getting ahead of his illustrious team-mate in the closing stages when there was a light rain shower.
David Coulthard and
Lewis Hamilton completed the top ten. Hamilton had a tough event after starting from 13th and then picking up a drive-through penalty when he was judged to have gained an advantage over
Sebastian Vettel on the opening lap when he missed apex 17.
Further down the order
Timo Glock was eleventh, with Vettel 12th and
Nick Heidfeld a lowly 13th after a weekend to forget - just like Lewis.
Jenson Button was the sole retirement as a result of an early race incident with
Sebastien Bourdais.
