Formula 1 » Opinions divided over Hamilton French penalty.

Monday, 23rd June 2008

McLaren-Mercedes chiefs and STR ace Sebastian Vettel fail to see eye-to-eye over the contentious drive-thru' penalty meted out to F1 star Lewis Hamilton in the French Grand Prix at Magny-Cours.

“I don't completely understand the reasons,” Haug added in an interview with German TV, erroneously going on to suggest that Vettel would see the incident in the same light.

“I don't believe Sebastian Vettel will have complained. He will probably come to me, as Mark Webber did yesterday (after the Australian was impeded by Hamilton's team-mate Heikki Kovalainen during qualifying, for which the Finn also received a penalty), and say, ‘that was no disadvantage'.”
