The man who could be in-line to take over is BMW test and reserve driver – and former Jaguar and Red Bull Racing ace – Christian Klien, but the young Austrian offered Heidfeld a vote of confidence in the wake of the latter's distant 13th-placed finish in last weekend's French Grand Prix at Magny-Cours, some eight positions and more than half a minute in arrears of Kubica.

“If your team-mate is always faster in qualifying than you, then it is obvious that there is a certain amount of pressure,” Klien acknowledged, speaking to motorline.cc. “He has certainly not forgotten how to drive, though, and I am sure he will get a grip on it.”
