Lewis Hamilton consummately showed his rivals the way during the morning session of the final day of pre-British Grand Prix testing at
Silverstone today, by lapping more than a second quicker than
anyone else out on the circuit.
The home hero's nearest pursuer was chief title rival Kimi Raikkonen in the
Ferrari, though the Finn was almost 1.2 seconds in arrears, with the under-pressure Nick Heidfeld an encouraging third-quickest for BMW-Sauber, albeit a further seven tenths slower still.
Kazuki Nakajima lay fourth in his
Williams, followed by Fernando Alonso – who lost time when his
Renault's engine blew up along Hangar Straight – Rubens Barrichello in the
Honda and
Force India's
Adrian Sutil.
Ninth-placed
